A question about makin' babies.

Feek, I'd love to, but you find me a chemist that's open.

AcidHell, I think that's the best bet. Unfortunately before the 4 months she wasn't very regular, so by now we have no chance! Lol!

EDIT: Ok ok ok, plan is, tomorrow, go to chemist, get 2 kits, do one, leave the other for a couple of weeks time.

no, it's not.

The pill has a very impressive contraception percentage which is all fine and dandy, but it is based on taking it at exactly the same time every day, never forgetting, and never being ill.

It would be a mistake to compare the advertised percentage figures for the pill and the implant.

Go and get one of the Clearblue tests. If she is far gone enough to be showing the early signs, then she is far gone enough for the test to work.

yes it is both are 99% effective. however with the pill you should take it at the same time and there's risk of forgetting or throwing it up. where the implant gives a slow release and thus is more effective.
as far as I know, the combined pill is 98%, the progesterone only pill is 95%, and the implant is progesterone only so I'd guess it's 95 too.

Cool. Are those digital jobs worth the 3x price tag?

I know it's not something to skimp cash on, but if it's the same technology...

Digital thing is a con as far as I'm concerned. It's technology for profits sake.

What is it?

The implant is a small, flexible tube about the size of a hairgrip. It's inserted under the skin in the inner upper arm. It slowly releases the hormone progestogen and works for three years. It's a long-acting reversible method of contraception. There is only one implant in the UK, called Implanon.
How does the implant work?

The main way the implant works is by stopping the ovaries from releasing an egg each month (ovulation). It also:

* Thickens the mucus in the cervix, making it difficult for sperm to reach an egg
* Makes the lining of the womb thinner so it's less likely to accept a fertilised egg

How reliable is it?

It's more than 99 per cent effective. This means that using this method, fewer than one woman in 100 will get pregnant in a year. All long-acting reversible methods of contraception are very effective because while they're being used you don't have to remember to take or use contraception.

OK, thanks for steering this away from flames and giving me some good advice here guys!

I'll get a pack of 2 clearblues tomorrow, non-digital.

Love you all :)

Given the time, another few hours won't hurt. It's my birthday in 5 days and we just wanted it off our minds slightly.

The pill not working because you've thrown it back up is very unlikely. It's a tiny pill, if it's taken before breakfast in the morning like it is usually (and therefore on an empty stomach), it'll have been all but absorbed in 20 minutes and then all the puking in the world won't make it less effective.

there's been an increase in young girls throwing it back up after a night out in the morning. yes it is a very small risk. But one worth remembering.

According to the advert 1/4 of women can misread the non-digital ones - you have to ask who they questioned in that survey though - how hard can it be?

I wondered that. If you're paying £15 for it or whatever they are, you at least know what you're looking for!

I preferred the normal, non-digital ones so I could look for the extra line myself and spend ages poring over it :p Sad I know but a lot of women trying for babies are like that :p
