As my current sig states, I am currently running 2 x 320MB 8800GTS in SLI which gives me great performance. ( 12.5K stock, 14K Overclocked cards - 3d Mark 06 ) but with the addition of the 8800GT and the new GTS, surely there is performance to be gained using these new cards - Hence the upgrade.

I'm picking up my new 8800GTS 512MB tomorrow, and I am worried I am going to be loosing a lot of performance. I sold my 2 320MB cards for a good price (for me) so Intend to get 2 8800GTS 512MB's, I'll have to wait another week before I can pick up the 2nd card.

The main reason I want to dump these current 8800GTS is the lack of RAM on board, I really should have gone for the 640MB cards originally.

Do you guys recon I will see a nice performance increase going to the 512MB card and later going with a 2nd card for SLI? Also do you's recon I am totally limited with the 320MB memory on the current setup ?

the 512mb gts are better than the 640mb ones.

I know that, what I meant in my original post was when I was originally buying the 320MB cards a while back, I should have gone for the 640 cards.

I am now hoping going to the 512MB cards, will give me a nice boost. Can't wait to try out the single card even tomorrow.

I rekon in some titles there will be performance loss but obviously were the 320mb memory made performance drop badly then the 512mb GTS will pull ahead.

I got the one 512MB GTS today and I'm very impressed. Stock GPU (2.7ghz Q6600) I got just under 13K :)

I was getting 14K with my 2 x 320MB's Overclocked a good bit and CPU @ 2.9.

So 13K nearly stock with 1 card, I am impressed :) Crysis is much much smoother also with the 512MB of Vram availible, very impressed. I'm noticing much smoother game play in most games, regardless of the FPS.

Nice card. I'm probably going to pick up another on friday.

15,250 ish in 06 with a Q6600 @ 3.35 and a single GTS 512mb, it's quite impressive.

Check out the crysis benchmark thread, beats a fair few GTX's - granted, it was at only 1280x1024
