Our company has introduced one of these schemes recently to cut co2 etc.

Anyway it was quite difficult finding a carsharer as I was in Sheffield and work in Nottingham. Managed to find a bloke though, this Indian chap. Anyway we agreed to take it in turns driving, and immediately noticed he drives dangerously. Up cars arses @ 90mph, bad over taking. So I warn him he's driving like a pratt and he calms down a bit.

When it's my turn to drive I show him how to drive in a safer manner and he seems to take it in. Instead he just abuses my car... Slamming the boot so hard it doesn't even lock etc. Today though he opened the door without care that he just slammed the door open and it hit a parked car.. I was shocked so checked the cars for damage and it was ok and told him to be more careful. I'm not the most confrontational person but what would you do? Just have a stern word with him? He's just so ignorant and stupid. He enjoys listening to Radio 4 on full chat when he drives, with his mint imperials ready in his side pocket. He makes sure to take his leather gloves off before reaching for them though.

Having a carsharer is saving me quite a lot of money a month in fuel though and not hammering my milage too much.

Oh and today he for no reason at all opened my bonnet when I was parking up... wtf?? I asked him what he was doing and he said he thought it was the boot... :o

wow, he sounds like a grade A ****! tell him in no uncertain terms to buck up or **** off when he's in your car especially.

just have a word with him, tell him to stop extracting the urine.

fair enough mistake, i am assuming the bonnet release is in the same place as Pugs? (ie the wrong side :p )

Tough one. You're going to have to weigh up if saving some money is more important than having a stress free trip to work.

I was going to catch a train to work, which would have saved me £20 a week plus mileage on my car.. but it ended up a lot more stressful.

Maybe listing what he has done to annoy you and telling him and if he doesn't change then you will pull out of the deal?

hmm ive started catching the train, and it saves me £200+ a month + mileage and I find it less stressful! Depends on your trains though i suppose, I have a straight run through 5 stations with no changes or anything.....get to listen to my ipod / watch an episode of a tv program or something rather than getting stressed at the traffic and the 18mpg my car gets on average on this commute!

Tom.

I doubt I'd have tolerated his poor driving as calmly tbh.

He sounds like an inconsiderate moron, I'd drive him somewhere far away, tell him exactly what you think of him & his abuse of your car and then tell him to enjoy the walk back whilst contemplating his actions, then and only then would you consider his apology. ;)

Take a tip from cheerleaders and intentionally crash the passenger side of the car into something hard.

My commute on the train is only 15 minutes so doesn't give me anytime to settle really.... then there's a 20 minute walk uphill the other end so I get to work a little bit hot and a less composed!

...then after a long day I have to walk 15 minutes back, wait about 20 minutes for a train etc.

Would save me over 1k miles a month but what's the point in having a nice car I'm not going to drive it?! :D

Sounds like it has all the makings of a horror film, the insane car share guy :D (Working Title).

Does this person work in your office, or just in Nottingham (apologies for n00b question).

personally id just abandon the car sharing scheme

unless you work next to him it doesnt matter you didnt get on. just tell your other workmates what a pillock he is

as for not saving money, it wouldnt be worth it for me to go to work with that pillock. Id rather pay extra and drive on me own. Then maybe look out for another one. people come and go all the time at companys so if not now, you may get better luck later.

wait, what - how does this work?

Does your compnay make you carshare? What if you don't want to ?

I thought one of the plus points above driving your own car is the fact you don't have to share it.

And you said he was driving your car? Do you drive his? This all seems totally pointless.

It does doesnt it, why dont you just drive your own car on alternate days? Surely the extra cost of being insure to drive each others car negates the savings in petrol?

I'd just relocated to Nottingham... save sharing with this weird fellow. Not as if it costs much to live here, either. Where in Nottingham do you work and why is your employer imposing this car sharing plan if it's your own car?

where does it say that ? he just said that the person he was sharing with openned the boot while he was reversing, and that he opened his passenger door and slammed it into another ?
