Well I had a firm word with him earlier and will give it a week and hopefully he will sort himself out.
In his car the other day he was at the petrol station and there was a car waiting behing, and he started writing on his petrol receipts and slowly putting on his gloves while the car behind was beeping, so embarrassing.

If it was me I would volunteer to do all the driving in my own car, giving him a lift, in return for a fixed amount of petrol money in advance each week. I.e. your car will do the same miles as if you weren't car sharing at all, but for half the petrol money. The only other alternative is to find a non-looney to share with. On the other hand if your company kicks up a stink if you refuse to share with this bloke just wave H&S at them saying you did a risk assessment on his driving and he got a score of "fatal" versus "very likely to occur", requiring manangement to put in control measures to reduce the risk
