New Years Day Premiership Footy **Spoilers**

this if accurate is a bit bad, i haven't checked it just taking it off a post on Rawk.

Look at some of the (non)goalscorers Liverpool had on the pitch tonight. (goals this year)

Finnan (0)
Arbeloa (0)
Carragher (0)
Aurelio (0)
Pennant (0)
Alonso (1?)
Masch (0)
Kewell (0)

Misleading since at least 5 of those are returning from long term injury.

i would just like to draw your attention to the bit where i said i had taken it from Rawk and had not checked its veracity.
Yep, noticed that. 4 of them were, and still are, defenders. :p

Let's find some accurate data, I'm sure it won't make much better reading. :D

The point of Dans post makes a bit of sence ;)

We lack goals throughout our side: Alonso has been out for ages (he's actually got 2 goals) but isn't likely to score much more than 6-7 a year and Mascherano's never going to score but thats not a huge worry as i don't expect to rely on them for goals. The concern is, and has been for ages, our lack of goals from wide areas; Pennnant had a good start to the season and got unlucky with the injury but he doesn't have goals in his game and Kewell seemingly lost his ability to score reguarly since his first season with us. All that plus our defence has no goals whatsoever in it without Agger, Hyypia or Riise and that puts a huge amount of pressure on Gerrard and Torres.

Babel and Benayoun have scored a few from outwide but Babel can't start games for some reason and Benayoun's ultimately not good enough to be a regular starter.

WE have not won agaisnt chelsea ( dam penalty), Arsenal (lucky to have a draw and lost agasint the mancs. Thats at home!! What chance is there to beat them in their own pad when we struggle agaisnt the lesser sides like derby , wigan and the likes. We lack that killer touch. Only torres is doing ok and gerrad is still not at his best. We still lack wingers who can cross or run at defenders. I m gutted with the draw. We have become the Del Boys of the EPL. Next year we will be millionaires. Or more like Next year we will be champions.

From a ticked of liverpool Fan.

ps we can still win it lol

actually i think you've been saved quite a bit by gerrard returning to his best over the last 2 months. god knows where you'd have been without him.

as posted above, i think where liverpool lack is goals all around the pitch. Look at united, chelsea and arsenal and names like terry, vidic, gallas spring instantly to mind of defensive goalscorers. I think the mian reason for this is liverpools set piece quality or lack of from corners and wide free kicks.

There's no problem with the standard of our delivery from outwide, the problem is the lack of genuine threats in the air. Like you say Utd have Vidic, Chelsea have Terry, Alex, Drogba and Ballack, (Gallas has done ok recently but i doubt it'll last) all of those go into the box with a genuine plans of scoring. Since Agger has came in for Hyypia we've had nobody who you expect to win the ball and more importantly expect to score.

Because of that lack of threats we often end up playing short corners etc and end up wasting them.

Indeed, Liverpool have made 4th their own over time ;).
However, Man City aren't even close to being in the 'big 4'.

Everyone knows it's Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea.
