worth going q6600?

Aw I bought a Q6600 a couple of days ago are you guys saying I just wasted my money?

Not at all.

In factuntilwe know the pricing of the new penryn quads you have made a sound choice.

Dont worry you have the same chip as me and unless I see huge gains I'm sticking with my Q6600.

So how about 3.6GHz on the Q9450 (8x450) is that asking a lot of the chipset?

If so you get an effective 4GHz Q6600 worth of performance? sounds pretty good to me

I feel it’s not a good time to buy q6600 as the price is likely to be dropped to make way for the new 45nm QC.

It should be a simple drop and replace

It is highly doubtful Intel will drop the price significantly, they haven’t done it with any of the older discontinued C2D so I doubt the q6600 will be an exception.

Must be honest the Wolfdales to me are far more interesting, with their higher multiplier and dual core forgivingness with high FSB overclocking we are going to see some crazy high clocks on air. I really wouldn’t be surprised if 5ghz is a common clock. I’ve seen a few e8400 samples do well over 5ghz on not so extreme cooling.

500fsb with a quad 24/7 is asking a lot from a motherboard IMO, that’s why I don’t find the cheap Yorkies so appealing.
