Hi all I have got some vouchers coming to me over the next week of the value of £983.98

with this we are planning on getting a new TV was thinking 42" but we are slightly confused on which TV to get and also which size, should we get Plasma or LCD, ? The TV will be used for watching Cable Digital TV, DVD`s and playing on my Xbox360, any advise welcome, many thanks.

Panasonic th42pz70b?

Thats about £899 from the places ya mentioned. Rated as best plasma in that price range by most people

There is no problem gaming on a plasma anymore, you might get a bit of retention that fades quickly. People are misinformed, the same way plasma owners say "dont buy an lcd, SDTV looks terrible on them", sure they used to, but not now.

Im looking to upgrade my 40" Sony40D3000 to a panny 50" 1080p plasma when the prices drop nearer to a grand for it.

I just bought the Samsung 40" 1080p LE40N87BD for a snip of £650. Is this good TV?

The HD looks stunning but normal TV either looks superb or really naff at times. Certainly not as good as the CRT it replaced. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the V+ broadcasting. Not sure really.

Yes its a very capable set for a great price.

Have you changed any of the display settings? The M/N87 notoriously look terrible out of the box. Same for any LCD really.

Virgin channels, as with Sky, do differ in quality though.
