Actually yes, really.

The 2.0T S3 will offer similar performance.

Defiantly, the 2.0t engines are great engines.

The ones in the new Leon Cupra is the only one I have had experience with, but to my knowledge the same engine.

The engine just pulls all through the rev range.

yeah they are the same engine very nice cars for 28k though i wouldn't buy one new nearly had one as a company car last year!! the golf ed 30,s3 and cupra have the same engine and all remap to 300 around ish the s3 would be better off the line but the other 2 would be faster on a straight bit of road due to tranny loss

plus i would so have this

sorry but a small turbocharged 4pot is not like a big NA V6. Haldex is nothing like a proper FR, and a hatchback is nothing like a sports coupe.

True, but you can say that about most cars where their appearance isn't massively different through their progressions.

So long as you don't look like a chav I don't see what the problem is though really.

Maybe the SE e92 would be a better option? (former one I posted).

I like the suggestion of monaro too: http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-u...ALL&model=MONARO&min_pr=&max_pr=&max_mileage=

Have you actually driven either, or indeed many performance cars at all?

the 350z is rwd had 40bhp more power and more grunt from a bigger engine for higher speeds better cd as well !!

the s3 is quick no question but its the same arguement with the old one s3 225 cupra r 225 the cupra r was quicker when rolling but handling and launch was a bit better on the s3

but again for the money i wouldn't have either!!

i just seen the evo X is out in a few days ^_^ i wonder if i can squeze the cash or pick up a evo IX 360 on the cheap. gonna book a few test drives me thinks.

I'd put my money on a 350Z over an S3, too. I'm driving one at the moment and it will happily pull and pull well in to three figures. The 350 is a heavy car, but the ~300hp ~350nm engine easily copes. In fact, there's little difference in weight between the S3 and the Z, but the Z has the power advantage.
