Well i have, my girlfriend thought it would be a good way of getting me to move instead of sitting around playing games all day.

Got to admit that it really does break you into a sweat if you do it on the harder levels!

I think they should start making those exercise videos using dance mats for your legs and guitar hero for your arms and fingers :D

Has anyone else ever gone to this length to get some good exercise in?

How much do you weigh?

I'm just under 18 stone but i blame that on Uni :/ In halls one year that was catered and the food was shocking, god knows how much rubbish they put into it.

I'm not one for a gym, i went to one last year a bit but i simply don't have the time to go with Uni and 2 jobs on the go. I'd like to add that its not the only thing i'm doing, i'm trying out the Special K diet too which is surprisingly good!

It's my girlfriend who wants me to loose the weight, i'm quite happy the way i am... i guess having a girlfriend makes you relax in this area of life hehe.

Sounds like you are trying hard. I know there is a Wii fit thing coming out if you are serious about mixing you exercise with games then that may be worth a bash I suppose (think it is only out in Japan atm).

As long as you are happy that is the most important thing, with regards to your weight.

I wouldn't say trying that hard lol, just trying to find the easiest way to loose weight around my life style. I've played on my friends wii and i would love to have one myself but money is becoming quite a big issue at uni.

Plus, i can't stand most japanese graphics on games.

Everyone has time to exercise, you have to make time for it, if you have time to play games, then you do have time to exercise and you dont need to goto the gym to do it, but do something you enjoy or you will never stick to it.

exercise should be a way of life, make time for it if you don't have time... Go to the gym in the morning or swimming or joging don't try and think that a games console will ever make you lose weight...

Also the special K diet is not really good, a decent diet and exercise is all you need.

Sorry for being so seriously but I really think that lack of exercise in this country is a massive problem one that everyone should be proactive with..

why not ask in the sports area and see what any advice anyone can give surely you have 3 hours a week to dedicate to this?

I can appreciate the harder levels and the work out. Fair play to if your up for loosing the wait. Though I would suggest taking walks with your girlfriend as well, It'll help you get fitter + you spend quality time with the missus. I.e. kill 2 birds with one stone. Try going swimming with her always fun :). If the gym is not for you try exercising in your room, situps pressups etc no one has to know but it makes a difference and it all adds up.

Thanks for the feedback guys, i do walk places as my house is a fair decent from the bus stop to my uni.

I wish i could join a gym but a) Money b) Time - having two jobs and uni work to do doesn't help and all i want to do when i do have some spare time is relax c) Finding friends who would go with me, i'm not one for doing it on my own.

Concerning the swimming etc with the girlfriend, sadly shes about 270 miles away from me most of the time as i'm in Oxford and she's in York... unless i take a very indirect route via a river :p

The special K diet is only temp, just to get me slimmer then ween myself onto a better diet. I figured that if i can withstand Special K for a month or 2 then i can make a better diet, but again it sucks that it comes down to money again. I generally find food that is better for you costs so much more :/

Grr, sometimes i hate the way uni saps the money out of you.

Onto a better subject, anyone who has the dancemat ever played online? I'd be willing to play once i get a bit better :D

My girlfriend uses the Dance Mat for exercise. She hasn't the weight to loose, But it keeps her in shape. She's only had it since just before Xmas like, but she's on it a lot. She plays Dance Stage Universe, Which is Dance Dance revolution. Definitely gives you a work out that game.
