How would one go about becoming a car salesman?

Is it best just to approach dealerships and ask if they take on trainee cars salesman etc or is there a better route into it?

Cheers

buy a sheepskin coat, learn all about monkeys and ponies etc and you will be fine

seriously though I have no idea, however Maz on the forums is a car salesman and seems to be doing well, maybe try and contact him

you gotta bleach your hair blonde, weigh 18 stone, have a giant furry coat, get the biggest mofo'in earings you can get, get a deep deep voice, apply too much make up and then some guy with a half bald head and glasses will come from nowhere with a certificate.

seriously - go to a dealership reception, they should provide you with the information you seek and more than likely an application form, previous experience in face to face sales would prob help.

That's what I would do.

Also, make sure your self-presentation is good, and work on your selling skills, maybe read a few books about the art of selling etc, and people skills. A big smile usually works well.

My GF's father is a car salesman, when he started he had 0 experience. I'm quite sure they will go based on references or trial based.

My girlfriend is currently in this process.

She literally got hold of 30 odd local delearships and wrote covering letters to all of them asking if they had a trainee position. Three contacted her for interviews and she ended up taking one of the jobs.

She started her probation period in September, and basically is shadowing another car saleswomen. Now she's just coming out of her trainee position.

If you get an interview, make sure you have a massive footballer style quadruple windsor stupid knot in your tie, you'll be a shoe-in.

Ideally it wasts to be at least 3/4 of the width of your neck.
