Paiste are definately not cheap. Paiste, Sabian and Zildjian are the big 3 in cymbal terms. I've got all 3 on my kit, all of them sound brilliant.

Best way to decide what you like is to try them out in a shop, then you'll get an idea of how each sounds.

its just dave says he pays upto 170 for paiste? which is definately cheap for ride cymbals, and hats.

They had a price hike about half a year which knocked prices up. I usually get mine from www.ecymbals.co.uk although I've got the odd steal, like my 21" Paiste Sig ride was £170 from a friend who bought it, and then bought another one straight away and couldn't justify 2 rides. :)

I wouldn't say Paiste are cheap, I'm just a fan of Sabian.

And yeh, you can expect to pay that much for a cymbal alone sadly :(

Did anyone go to Music live at the NEC?.. Birmingham drum centre and Rattledrum had some insane deals on cymbals which had been played at a clinic a day before, I picked up the following, I know my cymbals and these were all 100% perfect with only a few stick marks, they all sound georgeous...

Paiste signature 14" heavy hihats - £140
Paiste signature 22" Power ride - £120
Paiste 2002 18" Novo china - £95

All for £340..

The same kit brand new would have cost like £800

My new snare : Dead Chuffed! Sounds Awesome, got brilliant bottom end on it to!

Sweet looking snare, got any raw samples of it? I use a lot of sound replacement, using drumagog, always on the look out for decent snare samples. 5 or 6 samples of top and bottom in various positions with an sm57 should do it. :D

Had to share this with you.
This is a pic off a forums I can't link to but the thread is about your practise rooms.
This is how the drummer has got his kit setup and he claims he hasn't got a clue.
Look at the angle on the toms.
How long is his left leg?
