why do we blank out the word god?

I've noticed that they've stopped blanking just the word, but anything that leads up to it/may give a clue as to what it is - ie. last night on The War at Home, the dad said "oh my god", which miraculously because "beep beep beep!". so weird

I just wish people would decide wether '******' was an acceptable term or not.

Agreed. Doesn't it go down as:

Black people can say it and use it in any context.

White people can't, unless they use it in the correct context - which is subject to said individual black person and whether they can get mileage out of it (pull the "Race card" on it).

To be honest if somebody called me a honky or vanilla face, I am pretty sure I would chuckle and think of it as a nickname :)

God damn isn't just banned because of all this modern pc rubbish though, ever since I was a toddler my Gran has taught me that it is blasphemy.

I agree, they go over the top sometimes, I was watching a music video on you tube and half of it was missing. OK it was a rap tune so a few nasty words but for example "hot one" "martyr" and "chrome" had been missed out for example.

Gangstarr - full clip.

go watch it!

At least it isn't as bad as a phase they went through in the 80s of editing movies, there was a film once that had the f word replaced with mother flipper all the way through, how can anyone watch that and not laugh.

I think nowerdays people have come to accept swearing as normal, and most people are not religious so why should we care about the word god.

Christians shouldn't blaspheme but seeing as I am not and neither are most of the population why are we stepping on eggshells for a minority, screw em, isn't democracy about majority?

I remember seeing a "clean" version of Last Resort by Papa Roach with all references to suicide and self harm taken out. Considering the song is entirely about suicide and self harm, it was basically an instrumental.

on the subject
why is nuclear war beeped out in gaybar by electric 6?
even in the version where the stuff isnt pixellated out

Depends on your stance on the whole god thing though doesn't it?

well not imo, because you probly dont swear around people becasue they find it offensive/rude etc... but then you would around others. But if your posting on a supposed family public forum, then people will find blasphemy offensive. Despite this forum largely being populated by athiests/agnostics.

regardless of religious views, it is disrespectful imo.

True. But if god did exist and I ever did get to meet him I would punch him in the face.

if you want a religious debate IM me.

although i think you'd have difficulty doing what you say you would.

I need to upload a debate between Richard Dorkins and John Lennox, and post it on these forums, because Lennox makes some excellent points.
