Does anyone have a cleaner/maid?

I use a maid/ cleaner three times a week. She will also shop for me on a Friday (shopping list provided and do the ironing) I pay £35-00pw. TBH extremely good value and i don't have to worry about house chores ect

I hate doing a modicum of things but I still do them because some things are necessary.

He's not saying he doesn't do it or that it shouldn't be done. He recognises that it needs to be done and at the moment he does it but, like me, he probably values his spare time greatly and so doesn't want to spend it cleaning.

My cleaning lady costs £8 and hour & I value my spare time at considerably more than that, therefore, in my eyes it's cost effective for me to pay someone else to do it.

I enjoy eating, therefore I don't pay someone else to feed me.

Meh, each to their own. Half an hour a week, and five minutes after food along with just having clean habits isn't difficult to do.

You could have someone spoon feed you soup and chew your food for you as well. I'd hope you'd have more self respect and be able to clean for yourself.

By that logic, the whole concept of service provision is aimed towards the lazy and those without self respect? All those people who buy their vegetables from the supermarket sicken me. Imagine, too lazy to grow them themselves.

A big factor in this decision is time. I don't always have the time. I currently make the time to do it now but if it costs me £15 an hour to get someone to do it for me, that hour of my time can sometimes be worth more than £15 to me.

My mum employs a cleaner. A Polish lass who visits once a week for 2 hours, for £20.

However, she cleans - she does not tidy. She does things like the hoovering, dusting, scrubbing etc. but will not pick up clothes or newspapers etc. I understand this is the norm with cleaners.

I'm thinking of getting one.

I have no spare time what so ever, I economise buy brushing my teeth while on the bog or in the shower.

Every spare minute is valuable. Got a new flatmate who is some clean freak. TBH, I'm the opposite and despise the clinical cleanliness some people demand. I much prefer the lived in homely feel, and IMO the flat is pretty amazingly clean for 4 students. Still, she complains more or less daily.I suggested a cleaning lady to do a quick clean once a week or so.

Just the bathroom, toilet and kitchen. shouldn't take more than an hour to have everything perfect. If we still take care and clean any mess we make then everything should be fine.
1-2 hours per week split 4 ways should be nothing.

We have someone who comes in every Tuesday for 3 hours and pay her £10 an hour.
Well, she was told to be doing 3 hours and we found out from that tap-in system on our alarm that she was only doing 2 and getting paid for 3 so was warned hehe.
It's best to be specific with what you need doing etc.

That is bang on. This is the only reason why i employ a maid/ cleaner. My profession/ work is extremely demanding and time consuming. To have this service provision allows me to spend my valuable time pursuing my other interests/ social time. Without this service I would have no flexibility at all.

Wow, and I thought you might be a sensible person. How hard is it to keep a place clean? Seriously.

It doesn't take long, it's hygienic, and plain common sense. I've seen you post countless times at people telling them to get themselves in order over trivial matters. Do the same yourself.

What do you have against having a bit of help? I probably only do around 20 hours per week on average yet employ one, why not for the sake of about £15 a week? Its worth that to not have to bother getting bleach all over my hands and clothes and scrubbing crap off the toilet bowl and scrubbing the ceramic hob until my hands hurt :/

Cleaning is a horrible task, im damned if im doing it when someone is willing to do it for me.

Kelleeeeeee :D

LOL :D

I used to have a cleaner but her services were included in the rent. She was a friend of my landlords Mum and used to come round for an hour or so once a week. :) We all worked so many hours that we kept the place tidy, but it really helped with cleaning windows and mopping the kitchen floor etc that are time consuming.

I have a cleaner/ironing lady. She is my brothers friends wife and was recommended. She lets herself in while I am at work. She cleans the kitchen, bathrooms/toilets, hoovers round, dusts, strips the bed and puts new covers on etc, and then does my ironing. It costs £10 per hour (cash) and depending on the work can be between £20 and £40 per week. It is the best thing ever. Going home from work to a clean place with all your shirts lined up in the wardrobe all neat is great :D

Hire yourself an agency to run your diary, sort your shopping and run your household as well.
No.

So everyone recommends speaking to the neighbours to get a recommendation? I would like someone from an agency for the backup and added security but I'll have a word with the neighbours first.

As a last resort I can just hire a hooker and get her to do the cleaning, pretend it's a fetish of mine or something :D

Are you naturally obnoxious or do you have to work really hard to be so annoying?
I know I would.

Being a lazy git, I detest housework and would gladly pay someone to do it for me as long as I could find somebody I could trust to do it properly and not nick my stuff or pry into my personal gear.
