I watched this last night and thought it was quite good. Always nice to see a decent film based on a true story. There were a couple of niggles though;

- Who was the guy that took Graysmith down to his basement? Considering it was him that wrote the cinema posters, why wasnt this taken further?

- Was it actually Arthur Leigh Allen behind the counter at the fishing/outdoors store. Why didnt Graysmith say anything? Why didnt Allen recognise Graysmith after he'd been on the TV?

..just a couple things that bothered me now that i think about it! :)

He was the projectionist who Arthur worked for. From what I remember, the guy who analysed the writing was found out to be a bit of an alcoholic, so his view couldn't really be taken that highly.

It was Arthur behind the counter. I thought Graysmith didn't say anything because he'd said earlier in the film "I just want to look into his eyes and see the eyes of someone who would do this" or something along those lines. That was his drive to solve the case.

Don't remember Graysmith going on TV...but Arthur could well have recognised him, and not wanted to say anything (why would he?) He was very closed when the police came to see him at work, so why would he say anything to Graysmith? He's a weirdo!

Damn good movie!

That's true. In that case, what was the deal with someone walking around above them when they were in the basement :confused:

See, i thought Graysmith said something along the lines of just simply asking him, and getting the answer 'yes'. I definately got the impression he wanted to ask him or at least talk to him!

Graysmith went on TV when he started to uncover links himself iirc. Arthur obviously wouldnt have wanted to say anything, but i would have thought that the director would have shown him reacting in a way to suggest that he recognised him [but not meaning to show it].

Hum! :p

Arthur knew, Graysmith knew and so did the audience. It's been a good few months since I saw it but I think the way they gawped at each other said it all.

See i dont remember that happening at all. Graysmith gawped at his back, he turned and just said 'can i help you?' like he was anyone else in the world. No pause or anything. :confused:

Graysmith did pause though, but because he just said 'no' and walked off i wasnt sure what had happened!

Arthur did recognize him, you could see the slow realisation on his face and the fear Graysmith would make a scene or even attack him. Only thing i dont understand is that he was classed as medically blind around that time so how he could actually see him never mind work in the store.
