why do we blank out the word god?

Well I read Chariot of the Gods By Eric von Danniken, should I believe that?

/leaves thread in amazement......

up to you, if you feel that it is a reliable source then by all means beleive it.

and some very well respected historians and scholars (non-christian too) would agree that it is ridicualous to suggest the Bible was not written when it was by the same people that it is supposed to be, and Paul in the bible was a greatly respected historian in his own right.

That's the whole point though why exactly should I believe the bible over anything else? A book that has a set of 66 books written by 40 different authors on 3 continents over a period of ~1,500 years in 3 languages.

Sorry I can't quite make sense out of that bit?

I said you'd call it rape, knowing what your like, but it was not.

if you want the answers read the part of scripture concerned!

I never mentioned rape, you did. How do you know what I am like. Have you ever met me? Do you feel that you know me?

I want answers from you, regarding your beliefs. I don't want to read scriptures, they're lies and deceit designed as a mass-control system, in my opinion, obviously.
they are my own beleifs. I could say the same to you, how just becasue Darwin says something you believe it? or any other scientist.

Who mentioned Darwin or science? Are you so scared of evidence, factuality and proofs that you defend against them before they're even called?

What can be asserted without proof can be dismissed without proof.

I couldn't agree more :)

rape implies sexual activity (as does adultry), which there was none of, hence the virgin mary.

The Virgin Mary was a title given to a woman who bore a child, yes? From this we can reason that she conceived the child herself, yes? From this we can also reason that at some point around 9 months previous to the birth she copulated. The Virgin Mary may have been called the Virgin Mary, but either she didn't carry that child or she wasn't a virgin. Our species cannot conceive asexually.

God controlls the rules of science and therefore can make someone pregnant without having sex with them.

Prove it.

Don't forget the bits that were left out that didn't suit the ideas of the people in control at the time :) There were plenty of individual books discarded because they didn't fit.

Just that bit?? :D
Im asuming that is asumption aswell?

Umm, what?

Sorry I meant it doesn't make any sense from a point of the English Language (I'm not trying to be rude I just dont quite understand what your trying to say, it's rather tortologous?)

hold on, I thought the bible was written to controll people? now your telling me that you know it was written by lots of different ppl all over the place, and they somehow coordinated this big plan to controll everyone??

couldn't say.

the bible doesn't explicitly say, and nobody can be certain.

You would need the bible to tell you before you knew it?

What colour is the sky? How many hours are there in a day? What is your favourite English City?

No, that isn't what I said. None of what you have said here is anything like what I have said. I previously hinted that I believe most mass religions to be nothing more than a method of mass control. I didn't say the bible was written to control people, I said that the bible was a collection of stories. I stand by that, but there were a lot of stories left out of it too.

yes fair point, it was a bit jumbled up. basically it said that Historians agree that the various parts of the bible were written by the respective people at the times there were supposedly. so not just an invention to controll people.

No that was done by the compilers of the bible not the original authors.

not especially, but nobody else can know the age of the earth for certain, can they?

well I can quote sripture which is evidance enough for me, although I doubt that will be good enough for you.

Hello yantorsen, how can you possibly refer to a book (The Bible) when talking about contraception and the human body?

and I cannot see any other reasonable explanation as to how the rules of science and the world are determined.

If you don't mind, could you please explain to me what you think GOD is, what "it" can do and can't do in terms of the Earth, Solar System, Galaxies and the Universe? :)

Ah thanks, Yup I can agree with that but see my previous post re the control.

No that was done by the compilers of the bible not the original authors.

so you think the compilers changed what was written? do you not think they would have removed the supposed contradictions in it?

and what would be the point, it was in latin to begin with, so not many would have understood anyway.

several billion years old iirc.
formed about 4 billion after big bang as current thinking goes

EDIT: was it not origionaly much longer and cut down when accepted by roman empire by a council?

ok the first point, i dont think there is anything specifically on contraception, as it wassn't around when it was written, but I don't think that it is wrong anyway.

and the latter point, God has controll over everything, except he cannot controll free will, nor can he make someone love him.

What God is is hard to explain, and it's in three parts aswell, which is a difficult concept i know.
