My best 3 games of the year have been COD4, Bioshock and Skate. But i had to go with COD4, its the game i have spent to most time on and had the most fun on.

Really tough but I've gone for CoD4 - SP nothing amazing, Graphics are of a nice standard but nothing too special, but MP it is godlike and really shines above anything else this year, and I love how smooth it all feels too, Uncharted would have been my no.2 and OB my no.3 I think.

I would rather they didn't rush. The maps in it are all great maps, I'd like a new map pack of 8-10 and I'd happily pay upto £15-£20 for them.
I wouldn't really say that all the maps are great. A lot suffer from really crap spawn points or being too small in general. Then there are quite a few that just feel too similar. This is probably more highlighted on the pc servers where we have much higher player caps and things transcend into utter spawn raping chaos with in a few minutes.

Personally I don't think I would pay solely for maps, I would prefer some new weps as well and possibly ranks after 55 (even if they are just for status). I like the game a lot and play it everyday so maybe thats why I'm so bugged by some of the maps/flaws.

Well, I'd like new ranks, new challenges and 250 online achievement points.
As for the maps being too small, that's PC only. They aren't too small on Xbox360 or PS3.

I could see a bf2 style 'booster' pack with less content coming out on all formats. Perhaps thats a good way to get a constant stream of maps out without compromising on quality.

Call of Duty 4 was just perfect, incredible game. Mass effect would be a close 2nd if I'd have had more time to play it (still need more time).

Would have voted for the Darkness but its not there

Mario Galaxy it is then! Might have voted Mass Effect but I havn't completed it yet.

Personally my choice was between 'The Orange Box' and 'Call of Duty 4'. I had to choose COD4 though because it was all new and fresh for me as apposed to the orange box which I had played 2 of the games in it already. Both simply amazing games.

For those that are interested, COD4 received almost twice the nomination votes of the 2nd place Mass Effect and we're starting to see a similar trend here.

The Darkness was 11th and only 1 vote behind uncharted.

Us console gamers have had a great year, but which to choose as my game of the year?
COD4 for it's brilliant graphics, excellent storyline, breathtaking set-pieces and cut-scenes, atmospheric voice acting and ultra intense gameplay? What about Mario Galaxy for it's complete redefinition of the genre? Or Bioshock for it's superb art direction, excellent storyline and immersiveness?
I've played all these games and adored them, COD4 was a complete surprise to me and I was completely overwhelmed by how intense the gameplay is, and Bioshock had me sitting down at 8am some weekend mornings as I simply 'had to' see what was around the next corner.

I am, however, going to choose Crackdown as my game of the year. I played it to death and loved every minute of it - the massive free-roaming city, superb weapons and daft super-hero powers made it an absolute joy to play, either alone or with friends, a masterpeice.

I will just add that usually it's the most recent games that seem to win these awards, Crackdown was out in February so no wonder it's fallen off the radar of many players - especially after such a bumper year.
