Never Winter Nights 2

I got NWN2 on release as I loved NWN and its expansions. I was dissapointed at first, but persevered with it and played it for a while (all the time hoping that they would sort out the camera etc).

The game was ok, started to drag on a bit and in the end I stopped playing it because of the camera bugs and annoyances. It's a shame really as there are loads of aspects to it I liked.

A few months ago I decided I'd download the latest patch and try it again in the hope that the bugs had been fixed, but the camera just annoyed me too much so I've never continued it :( can't remember what chapter I got to.

What was up with the camera? You do know you can set it up so that your camera is exactly like it was in NWN?

I never completed NWN so I can't say how much better it got later on in the campaign. I found the NWN2 campaign a lot more fun though, especially later on.

Gave NWN2 a blast a while ago (5 months) with my current computer, ran like a dog, lagged to hell and got fed up with constantly having to walk around dungeons otherwise you get insta gibbed by the traps.

Graphics where on par with small texture size in oblivion.

Are there any good mods out for NWN2 yet? In the first one the mods frequently outdid the official campaign.

I second this request.

If I get MotB, will I be able to continue my SP game (I'm about half way through) with the same characters, but with access to the new classes? Or would I have to start again to get those?

Also, regardign co-op, what options are there, as I've not actually looked. Is it possible for you and a friend to play through the SP campaign? If not, what is there to do?

The NWN2 OC is a linear story done well -- it's a good plot, good dialogue, good voice acting, but you have little choice over what your character does. If you like that sort of RPG then it's worth playing. If you like more of a "sandbox", The Witcher and Oblivion are better bets.

I liked the expansion, which gave a the player a bit more freedom (mostly illusory, but more convincing illusions than the OC), and had some consequences for their actions. It had a couple of gameplay howlers but they were tackled quite well in the 1.11 patch.

The glory of NWN1 was the user made mods -- there were about 4000, including some of the best RPGs I've ever played. NWN2 is much harder to mod (NWN1 had a graphics system designed for easy modding over looks), so there aren't so many to choose from.

NWN2 modules are best found here.

NWN2 is fair, average, and got very boring; Witcher I only put down as Im waiting for my computer upgrade to play it maxed out.

This is coming from a big fan of D&D:FR and Baldur's Gate etc; Witcher is miles better than NWN2!

Surly the system in your sig can play The Witcher maxed out, or at least on high? Mine is identical (3800 @ 2.5, G92 GTS) and can

Knowing that the witcher looks better graphically than NWN2 i decided to install it just for a "ok i spent £160 on this card, lets see what it can do" moment. I don't think i'm going to bother with NWN2, at least until i've finished the witcher, it just starts so damn well.

I was originally using a X1900XT which couldnt hack it later on as things got more intensive, not without cutting stuff down. The 8800GTS only turned up 2 weeks ago, and the rest of my machine should arrive any day, especially now I have a 1920x1200 screen, I didnt want to have to play the game on lower settings.

Funnily enough I thought the dungeon traps in NWN 2 were the least effective I've ever seen in an RPG, well with the exception of KOTOR and Mass Effect.

I can well remember the dread of hearing the 'click' of a sprung trap in BG & BG2 and desperately scanning the screen to see what heading my way, invariably it was a fireball of insta-death! :D

NWN 2 was by no means a classic, but I played it a lot and got my money's worth I suppose.

Yeah. Plus the fact that you can sleep pretty much anywhere makes the game too easy. Nothing to stop you nuking one group of enemies with all yout Lv5 spells, resting, thenn moving onto the next group. I've probably been playing for over a year in-game time now.

Yes, you don't have to rest, its up to you, but still...

funnily enough I started playing this again today, after my appetite was wetted by reading my first ever forgotten realms novel.

First time through I got to highcliff and did about half of the quests there. It was around about then I really started to get into it, however for some reason I left it alone at that point aswell.

Have just reached Highcliff today after about 5 hours of gaming. I long time I know, however I thought I would take my time this time and figure out what I am supposed to do (didn't really get it last time) - still don't get some of it this time.

One thing that you seasoned NWN players could tell me is this. I was running around for about 30minutes with all members of my party affected with decreased constitution and dexterity, however I just couldn't find out what was causing it so as to cure it. in the character screen it informed me of it however told me nothing else. There was no other icons by the pictures or in the character sheets. Was I missing something? Eventually it went but it strikes me as a bit crap if you just have to sit such a thing out and have no cure.

Anyway - am enjoying this. Still have two more chapters to complete of the witcher, however that game is falling apart a bit for me. I have these quests to do which I don't care about and find really hard to follow from one stage to the next. Geralt just seems to know things and you are like - 'how did you come to that conclusion?!?!?' then you just run off and do it hoping that it will be the last part of the quest.

The Witcher started out great and is still good, but the RPG part is weak and the story is dis-jointed.

Just hammer the sleep button, and be more careful when fighting the zombies next time :P

Or if you've got a cleric or druid about, you'll have cure disease and restoration, which will make it all go away.

Though that needs the PC to be one of those, since the only NPCs you have are the Fighter and Thief. Though I don't know if its different if you choose one of these classes as your PC. I don't think so, though.

I know a lot of people that feel the same way about the witcher as I do, and about NWN2 as I do too. So no I'm not alone in my opinion. I'm sure people do agree with your opinion too, but don't be so ignorant as to think that your opinion is the only one people agree with. :)

If you insist on taking my post seriously then I was actually talking about people who rate games and write reviews for a living not just the average joe off the street.
