FA Cup 3rd Round 5/6th January *Spoilers*

2 good goals, Carrick:/ again, terrible 2nd half display from him really, the one where he got the ball and then just didnt know what to do with it so lofted it to anderson epitomised why he shouldnt be playing for us, oh yea and his shot, and his follow up to his own shot,,,

Hopefully Rooney can stay fit now and him and Tevez can get plenty of games on the trot together. Missed them both today.

Another goal for Ronaldo, 19 for the season now.

BBC Studio had Carrick down as having a good game

Villa and their fans were a disgrace. 10 men behind the ball negative football. 3rd Round tie and this is supposed to be the best Villa side for years yet they STILL couldn't sell all their tickets!!!! And they have the cheek to sing to us Loyal Supporters hahahaha.

Got what they deserved today

Terrible from the Villa, think MON got his tactics, if any, all wrong, and big John was even less fit than usual.

Could be worse though, he could have spent £12m on Saha.

Don't you think the crowd had more to do with the "magic" of the FA Cup going over the past few years? we had 41000 at home to Spurs on Tursday, and 42000 at home to Man Utd in the Premiership game.

Possibly

I think having so much football on at the moment makes it less of an event it used to be. I was at Villa park for the 2-3 game and the atmosphere was electric without an empty seat in the house

That was the lowest crowd at Villa Park, disregarding the Coca Cola tie vs Leicester, this season.

I think the expectancy of another loss to Man Utd may of had it's part to play too.

Alas, another potless season - O'Neill Out!

Sorry

I meant the cup game on the Sunday night when you went 2-0 up

Second half was okay, there was a total lack of spark. Ronaldo, Carrick, Giggs, Evra, Brown and especially Saha were woeful in the first half.

I thought Anderson was fantastic (again!) and have yet to see a bad performance from him this season. I think it's got to Carrick that Scholes is a given, Hargreaves is better than him and Anderson has blown everyone away that he's suddenly the 4th choice CM at Man Utd, unfortunately he plays like he's the 5th choice. Rubbish.
Saha is one of the laziest players I've seen in a long time, it was clear from the start, but made even more obvious once Rooney came on exactly what Saha should have been doing. Collecting from deep, facing the goal and playing forwards. Players do not like playing with Saha, and no one hates it more than Ronaldo. Ronaldo went from playing poorly for 70minutes to looking at the top of his game when Rooney arrived.

Another rock solid performance from Vidic and Ferdinand with the latter faultless, for me he should be our captain as Giggs doesn't look to lead the team, nor does he have the movement he used to or the influence on a game. He went completely missing until Park went off (who had a very good game), but once forced back onto the left wing he looked like a proper player again and his pass for Ronaldo's goal was straight out the top drawer.

I was hoping last season was a clear sign that Giggs just cannot play in the supporting role behind the front man as he disappears, but on the LW he's still one of the best in the league.

Wasn't a great performance allround today, but the class still showed that we're head and shoulders above Aston Villa, I'l just glad it didn't go to a replay.

Did anyone see the Ferdinand interview after the game where the interviewer said that it's been said that Man Utd don't give two hoots about the FA cup? Did anyone not think that a little disrespectful to Man Utd? We got to the final last season by beating Premiership sides throughout the tournament and again today beat another Premiership side

sorry complete twaddle - Carrick did a lot of cleaning up just infront of the defence, he had a good game (although there were a few mistakes) good easily outbalanced the bad though , Anderson didnt have a great game (two surging runs with blasts at the end going well wide)

Saha is a complete waste of space though - did he do anything for 70-80 minutes?

I was thinking that at the time too - but then what about the Carling Cup this season, would it have been too much for Rooney to be on the bench or anyone who could change the game? We always seem to get FA Cup runs mainly facing EPL teams

As i said when the draw was made, we select anything approaching our strongest side and we will beat Villa comfortably.

Saha has to go, he is lazy, which could be excused if he was still anything like a half decent striker, unfortunately he isnt and needs to be shipped out, NOW.
I'd even rather have Berbatov than Saha up front after his woeful display today.
