FA Cup 3rd Round 5/6th January *Spoilers*

That's what I thought. For 81 minutes, it could have gone either way. However, the Man U fans on this forum won't have you believe that. According to some of the posts in this thread, they were ten times better than Villa for the entire match... that's not what anyone else thinks though. It was only when Rooney came on that their performance changed - up until that point, Man U were as boring as Villa were.
Villa got one shot off, a header from 18 yards which went over the bar. That was it.
Whilst Man Utd were far from their best, Villa were never in it. I think that's why Man Utd fans don't see it going either way.

Yep further down!!!!

He made a lot of mistakes - his shots where woeful at the end of the only two decent surging runs he did, he gave away one or two free kicks in dangerous areas
I guess you're on about the one with Reo-Coker where he threw himself to the floor and the other with Barry (who did the same). Villa are a set piece team and they 'played' for them. Andersons prescence was a massive plus on the team, he played a part in every forward move until Rooney came on. Carrick played every ball backwards and short (or wayward). Every time Carrick played a pass I held my breath. He's employed to make passes, not reverse 10 yard balls, he's paid to be more offensive than Rio Ferdinand yet he made Rio make all the forward balls.

I was a massive fan of Carrick last year, but last night was one of his lowest points in a Man Utd shirt and possibly his worst of the season. Anderson for me was a solid contender for Man of the Match.

yea are you talking about Carrick again?

Anderson is young, inexperienced, still learning the game.

Carrick is a seasoned pro, someone who you would expect to step up to the plate and take the game by the scruff of the neck, he isnt going to get ANY BETTER at ANYTHING that he does.

Anderson is already quicker, "busier", better touch, probably not far off carricks passing, plus has shedloads more invention about his play.

Ergo Carrick < Anderson

Totally agree. The so called "highlights" last night consisted of five or six United chances to Villa's one.

It was hard for any midfielder to pass forward for Man United yesterday. Saha was hopeless and didn't look to show for the ball at any stage. When he did, he was on his heels and the defender got there before him. Giggs is a winger and also didn't look for the ball. Anderson and Carrick could only play it sideways and backwards.

When Rooney came on, BOTH Anderson and Carrick had an option.

To say that Anderson was leagues above Carrick yesterday though is ridiculous. Both had solid games with nothing spectacular to show. Anderson is showing signs that he will be a very good player for Manchester United, but it is too early to big him up as much as some people are doing at the moment.

"Martin O'Neill looks like hes got nits and worms"

Carrick was woeful but i think most of the team were until Rooney started warming up, the less said about Saha the better

Villa need to grow some balls, they could have beaten that team we put out yesterday they could have quite easily have been 2-0 up by the time Rooney came on

A poor performance all round i thought, luckily we were playing a team worse than the one we put out

Strong Arsenal team out today, should hopefully do the job!

They always roll over for you, it has got to the stage where I reckon the PL just put you in the next round or award you the three points before the match has even started ;)

Its sad because its so true :D

And hello Jazz btw :)

Pathetic goalkeeping from Kiraly there, made no attempt to rush Eduardo and try and save it.
He just doesnt look up for it.

I don't know what's worse, Derby being 2 goals down to Wednesday or the fact that we're (Newcastle) still the only team this season to lose to them.

Panzer

Wednesday 2 - Derby 2. What a waste of a 2 goal lead, our defense has really being missing Micheal Johnson since he went back to derby.

Really hope we can get a couple of new players in transfer window. :(

The refs are being silly now, clamping far too much on these so called "dangerous" tackles, not one player has gone off injured over the weekend with these "dangerous" tackles

I don't think they're clamping down on it, just seems to have been a rash of those sorts of tackles recently. People have been getting sent off for going in studs up and over the ball for years now.
