I have to say I watched it the other day and thought exactly the same thing. When I was down at the IAT (many many) years ago there was a guy who was really quite cool to watch marshalling. Loads of moves and flourishes while he was marshalling, I thought it was going to be similar to that. Alas not.
 
What don’t you get :confused: Simple really he is raising money for Cancer charity, just like kids do sponsored walks etc? Not rocket science really.

I think he's talking about the whole marshalling thing. He isn't really doing any marshalling at all, he's just dancing beside taxying aircraft. It's not like he's doing anything out of the ordinary.

I'm not knocking his motives though, raising money for charity is usually always a good thing regardless of the methods. Fair play to him for doing that but like DreXeL, I don't get the whole dancing thing.
 
Bah humbug etc... It's nice to see the RAF getting some decent press for once rather than the media screaming about Johnny Aircrew up to this and that, wasting our taxes, should be at war blah blah. No doubt those armchair war enthusiasts on Pprune who lament anyone having a good time in the forces will be clamoring for the disbandment of his squadron and his head on a stake.

We'll have to agree to disagree on that point, quite frankly I think it sucks.

But, it's making money for charity so I'll not knock it any further. Good on them for getting off their arses and making money.

While the guy was really just dancing infront of taxiing aricraft, its different, its funny, and it raised money, kudos to him for doing it.

Really? I didn't recognise the half of them. If I was marshalled in like that when I required it (i.e. trying to fit into a tight spot etc.) I'd file a report. From what I can see from the video, none of the aircraft are in a situation where they need marshalling, they're just taxying past.

I bet I sound like a miserable git, I'm not. I think it's great that he's raising money for charity. In fact, to make myself feel less bad about being a grumpy git I'm going ot donate £20 to cancer research now :)
