Asus 8800GT Temp/Fan (RivaTuner) problem

Hi, i'm new here, have been lurking quite a while and have learnt quite a bit from the forums.

Basically im having a problem with rivatuner (2.06). I have an asus 8800gt, the one with the new cooler. I can this fan over all the others (3x stock fans in the Antec p182 and Noctua fan on heatsink).

There is no "fan" tab in the rivatuner. When i go to the monitoring, the temp is always at zero. Is there any way i can fix this, i wanted my system to be as quite as possible (hopefully silent), but this fan is annoying me.

Here are my specs:

Q6600 G0
P5K-E wifi
Asus 8800GT 512MB
2gb OCZ DDR 6400 (800mhz) RAM
Antec P182 case.

Please help. i ultimately wanted to set fan profiles on rivatuner. Read quite a few guides but they don't help. Some of'em suggest forcing driver version in the power user setting to enable fan control (since my driver is 160.02, i inputted 16902 in the box), but this had no effect.

Im not sure, but i think some GT's need their BIOS flashing (risky) so you can control the Fan Speed with RivaTuner profiles, also those 169.02's are well old, id at least get the 169.09 beta's on, im using those without probs, as later sets have bugs, like buggered AA in profiles etc...

Also welcome to the forums. :)

Do you mean this card? because this is not the 'new' standard cooler.

my mate has an Asus 8800GTS and can't get any 3rd party oc'ing apps to work properly with it.
Get him to have a go at this:

Owners of the new 8800GTS 512MB will need to modify the current version of RivaTuner to work correctly, it just needs five characters (,600h) added to the config

,600h

Code:
[GPU_10DE]

G92 = 610h-61Fh

Code:
[GPU_10DE]

G92 = 610h-61Fh[COLOR="Yellow"],600h[/COLOR]

Hi, I also have that Asus card and had the same problem. As far as I know, there is currently no way to control the fan speed, but the temperature can be monitored with the latest version of Smartdoctor from the Asus website.

Haven't tried the fix above for rivatuner, let us know if it works, cheers.

this is the cooler on my 8800gt.

I have no experience of that cooler but if it doesn't work as you expect then consider sending it back, your the customer if your not happy then act. TBH its a bit naughty that overclockers are selling that card but are using a different stock photo (is that ASUS cooler above single slot?). . .

Sorry for the late reply, the cooler is more like 1.5 slot, definitely not 1 slot, and seems just less than 2 slot.

I'll be making the changes to that config file you suggested now to see how it goes

edit: made the changes to the config, make no difference, can't do the fan control, and no temp readings.
Also wanted to ask, do the other gt's fan connect with 2 pins (black and red), or with 3 pins (+blue wire)

There should only be one icon mate. Expertool is a red squeare with a white "X" in it:confused:

Yes the red x in the taskbar, i rightclick and a few more tools come up, i've opened each and everyone to see if any had what i needed and no luck.

I been on the asus forums, seems to be a common fault with these new boards, no temp or fan control whatsoever. I've managed to get a temp reading of 47 degrees from the latest asus smartdoctor, which apparently should also have the ability to control the fan speed for these boards, but doesnt work with mine and many others on the asus forums.

OK, i sent a webnote, i have an RMA number, so before i go through the hassle of paying for shipping for the graphics card (what a stupidly big box), does anyone with this card have any fan control working?
