Asus 8800GT Temp/Fan (RivaTuner) problem

What is the best and easiest way do a driver update. Do i need a program to uninstall the driver first, and then install the new ones after a reboot.

At the moment i have 169.02, and the latest drivers i could find is 169.21, will this actually make a difference.

People on the asus forums have done driver updates but with no difference.

Same here when I tried the Asus 8800GT, couldn't get a temp readout with anything including Asus, nvidias or 3rd party software, and no fan control.

But the card died within a week, either faulty or due to excessive overclocking, but I got a refund and replaced it with a XFX 8800GT which works as it should.

I was thinking about putting an S1 on there with a noctua fan. After a bit of reading found out that this card has that big (taller) asus heatsink think which means some DIYing would be needed to the S1 for it to fit. I'll be RMA'ing this thing

I know this is a bit late, but isn't a two wire fan impossible to control, since it takes a 3rd wire to report the RPM of the thing?

You could use Royal Mail for around £8 or something, i'd cover it with something so you don't know what it is, even if it's just brown paper.

Thanx Liquidfox, i'll be getting brown paper and brown cellotape as well, will be posting on monday to get a refund.

Which card do you please recomend, i would like the cheapest one but one with the newer fans
