It has to be called breakfast no matter what time it is, or what you have. It just has to.

breakfast - 6am to 10am

Brunch - 10am - 12am

lunch - 12am - 3pm

tea - 3pm - 5pm

dinner - 5pm - 10pm

Pigging out because your a greedy sod - 10pm - 6am

robgmun, that's easily one of the most helpful posts I've ever read on here. I'm going to try and fit ALL of those meals into one day at some point.

Thank you.

What if you eat all through the night, and carry on eating into the morning? Then if you stop eating at say 11am and 'fast' over the afternoon - surely 'breakfast' would be your evening meal, but not nessesarily the first of that day ;)

Breakfast is a meal within a couple of hours of waking. You could be up all day and not eat till 6pm. That wouldn't be breakfast. But if you just woke up at 5pm, then it would :)

Southerners!

Dinner's at dinnertime, tea's at teatime. What's with all this lunch business? :)

Lunch is eaten at lunch time - early afternoon. Dinner is eaten at dinner time - late afternoon/early evening.

Tea is a drink and is taken in the afternoon. This has become confused with dinner over the years somehow.

Dinner is midday. Tea is in the evening. Lunch is reserved for work, esp. if stored in a lunch box.
(And I'm not even close to being northern)

What happens if you work night shift?

It remains the same. If I come off a night shift at 0700 and eat bacon and eggs before going to bed, it's still breakfast, not supper.

If I eat a feed of spuds after getting out of bed just before going to work, it's still dinner, not breakfast.
