Which is the quietest 8800 GT. I've just about settled on the rest of my new build, just need as quiet a 8800 as possible.

Mick

My Leadtek one is quite, I think any of the ones with the latest fan revision should be quiet, the overclocked ones may also be a bit noisier, not sure though.

The gigabyte has got a zalman 900 on it. There suppose to be reasonably quiet i think (as seen in my other thread)

The Current Leadtek Card with its "Larger" fan is currently the quietest of all the 8800GT's and is certainly the one to go for.

I'm not sure its just the Leadtek but rather all the new cards that feature a reference cooler. I bought an Inno3D card in December and that features the improved cooler also.

Still there is no reason not to grab the Leadtek but just thought I'd clear that point up, who knows someone may just fancy another brand which perhaps have a game they want instead of the Leadtek one :)

Is the zalman on the gigabye turbo edition quiet. Im very tempted (even though i dont game i just think a 8800GT will last me another 3 years)

Agreed with the sparkle. Amazing product for a completely passive card. May get a little toasty but it'll be silent as you like!

My bfg 8800gt has started getting on my nerves lately for being loud :p

Seems v quick and never crashes etc and its so much quieter than almost all other gfx card i've had, but i can't help thinking how silent my 8800gts (both 320mb + 640mb) were by comparison from the same make, even if not quite as quick.

as i suggested in another thread, get the cheapest GT, rip the cooler off and stick arctic cooling accelero S1 with 120mm low noise/low RPM fan, it'll be much quieter and cool much better

Its just not something i fancy doing, thats the prob :( Its not a huge issue but its just a little on the loud side, not massively intrusive but bugs me a little every now and then.

I think there is one other manufacturer that is carrying the new cooler as it is not standard issue from NVidia so not all cards will carry the larger fan

Don't tell me they fitted a bigger fan on the ones after it? :p
Yes they did!

You see Gashman, even though what you are suggesting is sound not everybody is happy 'ripping' the old stock cooler from their treasured graphics card. I can see it from both sides, I was just about to upgrade mine with the Arctic cooler but then had doubts about warranty, resale value etc lol. I did sell my first 8800GT during the goldrush and by the time I bought another they had been updated with new reference coolers so I'm happy, however I do feel a bit sorry for people with the original cards because the noise from the fan at 60%-70% is a bit annoying.

The new reference cooler is very quiet and keeps the card cool.
