The HD addon is actually loud? I was told it was silent from soneone on this forum (trying to proove me wrong I guess as i was pretty sure the console wouldnt be quiet) I was all up for going out and buying a HD drive addon if it was indeed quiet.
I've got a full 5.1 surround sound system, 2 floor-standing speakers and 3 big satellites. connected up to a proper amp and i can still hear the 360 in low noise scenes.
The HD-DVD add-on is quiet. For some reason though the 360 decides to switch it's fans on during mid-film on the odd occasion. It was very rare from my experience though and it was a superb add-on.
It must be pot luck, I seem to have one of the very noisy PS3's, the fan ramps up after a few mins and stays at full chat, it's nosier then my Elite when in the dashboard, and not so far of when in game..

Launch day 360's Birfday aftermath. There was some pizza remaining from the night before so gf jokingly placed a tiny slice on the tray, and then sat down to take a photo. Gf stupidly sat on 360 remote and the tray began to close...pizza slice fell through the tray hole but some of the topping got stuck to the tray and was delivered into the 360

My 360 is pretty noisy, but just tuck it away a bit in a unit, just push it towards the back. Have also found mine is quieter when it is stood up rather than laid down.
