How to siphon fuel out of a car?

My girlfriend's car is basically a write off (cambelt killed most of engine.)

It has a full tank of petrol though, whats the best way of siphoning it out?

Theres normally a access panel under the back seat with a fuel pump under there, just pop the fuel pump out pop in a hose, suck on it a little, get dizzy and hey presto!

or just jack the car up and bash a screwdriver in the tank

Just feed a hose a good way in, then cover the end and pull out, until you draw petrol right the way up the hose out the tank, then make the end lower than the tank and let go and it should siphon it out.

I took the hose that goes to the engine off at the fuel filter and let the fuel pump do the work (just needs a 12V and negative wire)

This was on a mondeo and the filter is near the tank so was pretty easy
