I started over from scratch & still i come first or second with the start weapons.
Good tactics & a good aim is that is needed to finish in the top 3 but the unlocks make it a bit easier.

Agreed!

I've gotten to level 20 in about 2 hours this evening from 1.

Once you unlock the challenges get them done and you can level easily!

Everyone thought i was cheating though because i kept coming top :cool: Ahh yeee

Anyone fancy a game tomorrow evening.

Yeh, you're away once you unlock the M4, Red dot snap on is extra handy and the scope for ranged maps..

Just added you Crofty :)

After a couple of attempts I found a TDM hardcore server with a decent ping and an empty slot, so I logged in, the map was downpour, and I had an m14 with red dot, and a deagle.

Killed a bunch of guys with the m14 and my three nades, and I was on a nice little streak. Ran out of ammo on the m14 and quickly changed to the deagle and killed a couple of more guys. I ventured outside and killed a couple, no more, with my deagle before running out of ammo. Oh yeah, forgot to mention, when I ran out of ammo on the M14 I tried but failed in picking up a bunch of dropped weapons for some reason? But yeah, I ran out of ammo on the deagle and managed to kill the guy I was shooting at with my knife.

Without no ammo and not being able to pick up a gun, no word of a lie, I proceded to run round like a headless chicked knifing everyone, I got a knife award while doing this, I easily knifed 10 people. I swear. I still hadn't died when I got kicked from the server and I was like "WTF!!!!". Tried to log back in and it appears I've been permantley banned for having the round of my life :p Yeah, felt the need to share that as I'm sure some of you have ad similar experiences :)

Haha yeah this happens a fair amount, you probably just killed the admin a couple of times and he was raging. We can all admit though to having a "he must be cheating ffs" thought as the enemy kill you for the 5th time in as many minutes.
 
Gotta admit for Game Play online, its really not half bad, although I find some maps really frustrating where as on some like the boat one I can come 1st.. learning where all the nooks and crannys are I suppose lol.
 
i think red dot sight is best overall. cod 4 is pretty good online but now uo been reinstalled again :p its just shown me what ive been missing since stopped playing it. just put a server up and had 19 on up to yet raised it too 64 players pings are excellent. caretan what a map, that is what cod 4 needs.the only bad downside ive noticed is all the md5 hacks what noobs :p also the lame excuses to why theyve just got kixked from server :D
 
are cheaters common? I came across my first one yesterday, on a team deathmatch server, and 3 of my team sneak through a building with little in the way of enemy defending it, and sudenly all 3 of us got headshoted (we were in different rooms at the time), the killcam showed a person outside the building with an m60 using his ironsights, and the gun just instantly jumps across the screen firing then moving to the next person instantly.

some ppl may accuse others of cheating when they arnt, but this person got 3 headshots, through a building he couldnt see into, on 3 people in different rooms (one on a different floor) and all within the space of a fraction of a second as his gun just instantly jumps from person to person. Worst thing is, this was quite a decent server but there were no admins around so he couldnt be banned and he wouldnt leave, so in the end i had to as i refuse to play with cheaters.

Yet to see a cheater in CoD4 myself.
 
I really like this Game but the number of Random deaths by grenades is stupid !!

BTW i`ve found an awesome server for Teamdeathmatch but there are a few different server and seem to be always busy.

Its the Martyrdom perk, I use it.. if you kill someone close range run away as fast as you can :)

If you are running under Vista, PunkBuster won't be able to update itself (or work at all) unless you are running as an Administrator - I resolved my problems by updating PunkBuster using PBSetup.exe (scroll up for link) and running as Administrator.

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone else has problems with this game hard locking the PC? I've updated my Nvidia drivers and updated to the latest COD4 patch but still at random points it hard locks. Some nights fine other nights loads of locks.

Makes me chuckle with the double standards. Called a noob etc for jumping/diving or defending an area to stop flanking. Then you go on a clan ranked server they are doing it all and if you say anything its like the end of the world.

Still I don't take it too seriously - I'm just doing my challenges & ranking up. Only time I get fedup is 5 vs 16 for example.

Im not running as admin & COD4 is fine...but it does kick me on a fresh install of the game for the fist time that i connect but then after that its ok.
I wonder if its got anything to do with some people having UAC off as i leave mine on & i get no popup for the game.
 
PEOPLE wondering about the £22.99 CE....

IT arrived this morning for me and works perfectly. now i can get rid of my unbought version ;) and have to start the MP overagain... JOY :(:D
 
Does anyone know how i can see a list of people recently killed in game? I mean more than the 4 it shows on the screen.

I would have thought the console command wuld do it but that just brings one blank line at the top of the screen.

hold shift and press` to open the full-screen console.
