*** The Official G92 8800GTS 512 Overclocking Thread ***

Got mine running at 800 / 1100 / 2000 on air, if the fans are around 30-50% then games crash or the computer blue screens. Soon as fans are put up to 100% it runs flawlessly, can't wait to get it under water! Looks like it may be heat limited in an odd way!

RivaTuner with a config edit and ATiTool/3DMark06 for stability test

Cant get it higher than 805 / 1100 / 2200 on air otherwise it throws up errors or artifacts, hope water will sort this!

Has anyone managed to achieve dynamic fan control of a G92 8800GTS through Riva Tuner? I did the *.cfg file change as recommended, but all I could get is the o'clocking options and being able to set the fan to either Auto (where it doesn't change one bit irrespective of temps) or Manual. I would like to have my card (Asus) silent in 2D and spinning up in intensive 3D/high temp...

On the other hand, Asus Probe does the trick but it messes my NFS Pro street frame rate, which really bothers me :( Without it, the game runs perfect.

Yup, it works well :)

The config change is just the start, you then need to program rivatuner to automate the fan control.

Thanks a lot. This looks like the trick to do it, but it doesn't work with a G92 card. There is a way of achieving dynamic control and it is through adjusting the T... options in Auto fan mode. Got it woking with some help from another forum.

Enjoy the Holidays!

Had my card running at 805 / 1100 / 2200 using the stock cooler. been fine for 2 weeks in everything I hve thrown at it. So I decided to put it under a EK88GT water block to see if I coul push it any higher.

First bootup, the monitor turned off after 30seconds, so I assumed the GPU was over heating. I resat the waterblock and voila the PC came on and boots into Vista or XP perfectly.
Next thing was to start overclocking the card, this is where I am stuck at.
At stock speed the graphics card operates fine, Im not sure what temperature it is at as I have no program on Vista 64bit that will tell me?(nTune crashes) But nTune in XP said 35c idle.
As soon as I increase the speed of the GPU ATiTool crashes and Vista steps in to save the day, or in XP the system just poops on itself.

Anyone watercooled a 8800GTS with an EK block? How tight do I need the screws to be in ? How much thermal paste do I need and anything else I should know ? As at the moment its cost £55 and its worse than the stock cooler!

Anybody got a recommended cooler , want to bring my hard load ati tool tests down as it got upto about 62C

Thanks , nice chart that.. it shows that mine is in the region of 60 hard load but hugely overclocked compared to that standard. I just did a quick go of call of duty 4 and i was SO impressed :D

The 8800GTS 512MB cooler is pretty good actually but I found it helped bring the temps down even more by using RivaTuner to program the higher fan speeds to kick in as soon as the card past 55°C approx. . .

Your temps seem pretty good though, 62°C load is quite cool for a powerful graphics card :)

No, had the original cheap Inno3D 8800GT, sold that (kerching) bought a G92 8800GTS (preorder cheap) tested that and thought the regular 8800GT offered better bang for buck so sold the G92 8800GTS and bought another 8800GT but this time it was an Inno3d O/C model with a new cooler so hence the comparisons :o :D

Nice at least it gave you some good content to wright :D.

761 / 1902 / 1120

Processor is bottlenecking the card big style at these speeds as I only score one extra 06 point compared to when it's clocked at 750 / 1875 / 1100, will wait for penryn and my p5k back from rma before trying any higher.

Btw I'm using rivatuner to kick the fan in at 60% when the core hits 50c, it seems quiet enough and I've never seen it go above 60c. :)
