eta on 3870 x2?

Well if it did work without implementing crossfire in the drivers the x2 will be a great card no doubt, but personally, I think it still is gonna implement crossfire, and have compatibility issues.

We won't know but that's my guess.

Matthew

I hope it wont ;) Cant see any reason for it to need anything other than the driver since they have a chip on board to get the two running together! So fingers crossed that crossfire will only come into effect with a 2nd x2 :)

Yeah fingers crossed. However, I do remember sapphire's and gecube's attempts at this with the 1950 dual card and the x1650 dual card. They were using crossfire drivers for those cards and performance was severely impeded in instances where crossfire wasn't directly supported.

AMD may have done it slightly differently (and I hope your right) but I don't think it will. The best hope is that they are quicker with crossfire updates than in previous years :)

My GT will be going up as soon as I see benchmarks for this, even got the description wrote up for selling it :D. It will be nice having a dual GPU card, Dual core CPU, Dual core GPU, goes together nicely :):p.

I'm thinkin of moving on my hd3870 right now....not sure yet however

I'm hoping its a killer card this and is priced around £250 I really would love to have a dual core GPU, something new and powerfull. I'm sure you'll sell on your 3870 is the X2 is amazingly powerfull :D.

Already flogged my GTX, sat here on an FX5900 with a fan that sounds like a million crying children.

Thats how much I want one :o

Yup. :D

Was going to go Crossfire 3870's with an X38, but then I decided that as we were so close to the 3870X2 comming out i'd just get a P35, save some cash, and get the 3870X2 instead

All I keep thinking is I can either keep my 3870 and buy a very cheap second one and settle for 16x/4x crossfire or just sell the 3870 now, live life to the xtreme with my 2600xt and then come my January wage I should be able to afford the X2 on release where I wont be limited by the 4x bus!

I'm just worried it'll be slower than my 8800GT I have ATM and for £250-£300 its a lot to spend and since I can only get like £100 for my GT.

No way it'll be slower than the 8800GT.

8800GT SLi scores are very similar to 3870 Crossfire scores, and that is about what the 3870X2 should be getting.

I would sell my GT and move to one of these, but quite frankly it won't be worth it, even at 1920x1080.

Crysis can naff off (buggy thing will run crap on any card anyway), UT3/CoD4/TF2 all run sweeeeeet and then some.
