Contracy phone in washer - no insurance - options?

So its gone in the wash haha and now im stuck with 12 months contract and no phone. What are my options? Im with O2 btw.

take out insurance on the phone and claim in 3 weeks, but dont use your contract phone in that time or they will know the sim is in a diffrent phone

that or ring up say it got knicked and say "what do u mean it isnt insured" and try n blag it

What phone is or was it?

You could just pick up a cheap O2 PAYG from CPW and use the SIM Card in that. Say a Nokia 6300 for £60 which to be fair is cheaper than insurance over 12 months assuming that you didn't have a really expensive phone.

Orange offer emergency cover - basically a one off payment (~£30?) and an agreement that you'll carry on with paying the insurance over the next 12 months.

Don't O2 do something similar?

I remember doing this exact thing with Orange a few years ago. Had to pay £50 and take out the £5 p/m insurance. Not sure about O2 though.

I'd just buy a cheap phone and use that instead, it isn't a fantastic solution but it is probably less hassle than the alternatives.

My phone got very wet a few months ago on Orange with no contract.

Rang them up and they refused a replacement, so we said we'd cancel the offer and move on, and then a superior worker there spoke to us and sent out a brand new replacement the next day.
