This is possibly one of the most cryptic questions to answer but I've spent 3 days trying to work out what this film is called with no success.

All the details I can recall are it's set in WWII, there's some sort of assassination plot, I can recall the target (AH I think) walking along a path on the edge of a Forest/Wooded area and a sniper team behind a wire fence who choice not to fire. For some reason I keep thinking about a lake as well. I can vaguely recall the snipers had German uniforms on but I can't remember if they were part of a breakaway group or Allies in German uniforms.

I know this sounds like I've recently taken a bang to the head and I've lost the plot so apologies in advance.

If anyone can decipher my "description" I'd be very grateful.

Edit - I seem to recall some kind of meeting at Bertesgarten with top ranking officials before they all set off on a walk (towards the path I described earlier).

Is it something like the Dirty Dozen. There is a black guy who is the sniper and he goes to shoot Hitler but his orders are to shoot his general or something and he stops himself at the last minute and shoots the general following his orders.

Probably completely wrong but there you go.

It's not that mate but thanks anyway.

The more I think about it I'm starting to think it was Germans (or atleast the two snipers dressed as Germans) trying to assassinate Hitler rather than the Allies.

It's rolling around my head somewhere, I was pretty sure it was DD.
Or "The Dirty Dozen: Next Mission"

Sounds familar.

Did the assassination squad leave without firing a shot?

But it certainly sounds like one of the DD films.

Could it be Killing Hitler (2003)?

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0360715/

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Foxley

"The Operation Foxley plan was to assassinate Hitler on his morning routine as he walked unprotected to the tea house in the Berghof compound. The scheme called for the British to parachute a two-man team into the area surrounding the compound. The two soldiers were a German-speaking Pole and a sniper. The men would infiltrate the compound and get in place to shoot Hitler."

I think you might just have solved it.. THANK YOU!!!

Unfortunately being a BBC production getting hold of it isn't proving to be easy.

Edit - Appears BBC released it on DVD so ordered it from the auction site. Thanks again.
