Hi there,

Overclocking wise, which would be best?

I want to overclock the quad core i am getting in an asus board - so which would be best?

I am thinking 4x1GB. The ram i'm thinking of getting is corsair XMS2 DDR2-PC6400 (5-5-5-12-T1).

Thanks.

Edit:

With regards to cooling, i am thinking of getting an arctic cooler freezer 7 to cool the quad core. How does this bare over stock cooling? Better/Worse/Indifferent?

I have no problem using 4x1 gb at 450x8 with fsb:dram ratio 1:1. I'd go with the cheapest alternative :) . I bought them about 3-4 months ago, and now the price is half of what it was then...

arctic cooler freezer 7 will be a lot better than stock, but still not terrific.

so what you recommend 2x2gb - i just want the best performance out of the system when overclocking (dont care about being able to upgrade in the future). chances are i won't be able to run the ram 1:1 anyways?

should i go for PC6400 or get something lower/cheaper?

Can you recommend a good cooler for the cpu then?

GeIL 6400 800mhz UUL C4 - mine will do 4-4-4-12 @ over 900mhz (I have 4*1gb stick as well)

Would not use the Freezer Pro on a Quad Core from the results I have seen they are not that much better than stock (3.2Ghz is possible on stock and Freezer Pro's normaly come in around 3.3/3.4Ghz), I would go for either the Tuniq Tower, Thermalright Ultra-120A or if you really want to push the boat out a Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme

You're stuck with 1:1 ratio whether you like it or not. You will not get the mem speed any lower. However, that will not limit your overclock.
