"TV B Gone" - anyone got one?

Simply press the button and it will switch off 99% of televisions and virtually anything with an infared port. There is 400+ off sequences preprogrammed and it will keep scanning until it finds the off button.

The fun is endless! Imagine you're at the pub, a penalty is about to be taken...you press the button...the TV switches off. Or if you are at your favourite high street electronics store, imagine the fun switching off all the televisions in the window? Just make sure Dixon of Dock Green does not catch you!

For some reason the idea of switching other people's stuff off really appeals to me. Should I waste £12.90 on a potentially annoying gadget?

A similar thing actually happened when we played argentina in 2002 and somebody tried to record it down the pub but pressed the wrong button and it changed channel just as beckham stepped up to take the peno. This lead to a tirade of abuse whilst he faffed and fumbled and justabout managed to get it back on before the penalty was taken.

My brother has one of those. Amused us for a little while walking around Milton Keynes shopping centre and switching off the huge TVs in shop windows

No, that's not funny. Somebody did that to us years ago when Arsenal had a very late penalty, and as a result the tv and sky service it was plugged into couldn't be resumed. Not happy.

Personally from then I found those things as annoying as laser pointers used in the wrong setting.
