Hi guys
i think its about time i changed my Graphics card. so what im asking is. which would be the best kind of card to go for ? i dont play a lot of games just stuff like farcry. most of the time i use the pc for watching dvds and i play around with a lot of video stuff and pictures. my screen is a 19inch samsung. and i am using vista x64. what would be the best for vista a. ATI 3800 Series or Nvidia 8800 GT Series

Thanks All
:)

Well as far as I know the 3800 series' drivers are much better on Vista 64 than Nvidia's offerings.

No problems with my 3870 here.

No problem with my 8800GT in Vista aswell so either one will be great tbh, dont buy just yet new cards coming soon.

I'm running Vista64 on 2 pc's atm - one with 3870XT (single card solution) and the other is a BFG 8800GT OC2.

yes, there are a few issues with certified drivers etc, but my 8800GT significantly out performs the 3870 in every area.

however, visually the ATI 3870 has the edge as many ATI cards do over the nvidia offerings and if you mainly do a lot of photoshop work etc the ATI is the card for you. but there is a handsome performance gain using the 8800GT esp in games.

both are good cards

the choice is yours ..

;)

so what new cards are coming ? is it worth the wait. and will the card that are out now start to drop in price

New card comes to mind is the 3870X2 (Cant miss info and talk bout it if you look) Its going to be competetive against the 9800GX2 I think. From what I have read it may run cooler than the 9800GX2 and also be prices quite abit less so that may make it worthwhile and could be available in massive numbers.

Just noticed you only play Farcry, well an X1950Pro, 3850 should do fine.

so most people on here seem to think i would be better off with a 3850. is it worth paying a little more and getting the 512meg card

OcUK 385/70 is a good bet, ati's drivers are better for older games I have found than nvidias.

I don't personally own a stock 3850 but someone I know who does said that they are very quiet. :)
