what? I'm sure that fox's 300 miles from £70 does not equal 26 mpg.... I average 30mpg out of a 260bhp mazda 3 MPS btw

It's between 20 and 22mpg thereabouts.
I only do short trips in town from cold, so the economy is awful. It's far better on the open road.
You said about 400 miles costs £300, thats around 6mpg
Can well believe it mate, I think my max in a month on my 728i (which was supposedly "almost frugal" according to Parkers! ) was just over £600!
Last month I doubt I spent £60 in diesel in my Mondeo.
I tend to put in about £40 a week so roughly £160 a month however this can fluctuate a lot depending on
1) How heavy my right foot is
2) Depends where we go at the weekend. (ie if we go no-where that needs the card then £25 is enough per week).
