Another what's this worth? (BMW 318SE)

I'd say no more than £4000, as you can get a pretty mint, FSH, 2000 model 318 with a clear lens kit fitted for about £4500. The 6cyls begin at that sort of price as well, and for not much more, the more powerful and better looking 318 Coupes.

Every time I give somebody advice about the purchase of a 318i, God kills a kitten.

Please, think of the kittens.

:D, I understand how you feel about these. But I'd be more than happy with the performance of one.

The 318s are great to insure and cheap to run (petrol costs), whilst still remaining a 3 series

Help would be appreciated Fox :)

How tall are you? If you're about 6 foot then you'll struggle to fit in the front, especially with a sunroof as they're rather cramped

Rear legroom is rather poor too

My Dad test drove a 2001 model when new and he was distinctly unimpressed

Feb 2007 I paid £5500 for my 66k one in immaculate condition with 99 V plate, 1yrs tax, new MOT and fresh Inspection 2 done so under 4500 for that seems fair.

I've had it a full year and no mechanical faults have occured (even with the free 12 mths £1000 warranty) and I have MOT due Monday so stay tuned ^_^

I guess that's a valid point^ parts will be expensive /if/ you need them so it's always best to find a specialist in your area. I was lucky in that there is a local one who charges less but has a dealer stamp on services. Look around and see!

My Focus is worth 3700 Private/3100 Trade ;)

I would be PXing my Focus for it as pointed out above.

If you're part exchanging your Focus then the best you can realistically expect is the trade price. You're also unlikely to get much of a discount on the BMW

The BMW just isn't worth £1400 on top of your Focus IMO. It's a standard one with six figure mileage and potentially frightening servicing and running costs!

Anything else to offer this thread?

Sorry mate,

No offence, Just chuckled while reading and watching the darts.

In your position I would keep the focus.

BMW running is not cheap.

You enjoy your Focus.

If you can afford to run it etc.. Then do it.

I doubt the 318 BMW will give you any more satisfaction...Other than bigger running cost's.

But as I said before when you were looking at at a 2.0L focus.

Dont side grade imo.

Save some money and get a better car.:)

No offence Tom, but this makes you sound like all you really want is the badge. If you really want a 3-series, surely you want the power to go with it?

And as mentioned, there's more to running costs than fuel and insurance. BMW servicing for a start.

Thanks. Some worthy advice I will take into consideration :)

The servicing periods are fairly big and of course I'm presuming nothing will go wrong with it.

It's nearly a ten year old car with 100k on it. Surely something will go wrong along the line?. There must be a point where the awesome German engineering ethos goes out the windows with these cars.

Then again I know nothing about BMW.

To summarise, if the deal goes ahead. Insurance = £300 PX = 100-150.

This is pretty doable for me atm. But it may stretch my finances if things do start going wrong and would leave me with a sour taste no doubt. Decisions, Decisions.
