Hey All,

Me and my mate Adam think that if Metallica's new album doesn't 'rock' they are going to lose a lot of friends (fans, sales etc..)

ST Anger wasn't the best i've heard, neither was S & M, Garage Inc (alhough good & fun), Reload or Load.

I'm a big fan of Load and Reload but its no Master of Puppets

Its a serious thread, I want to hear from other metal heads please

Haven't heard a decent Metallica album since the album Metallica. Even Justice for All had some poor tracks.

However, will be interesting to see what they're like with Robert Trujillo. They have stated that it's like playing with Burton again, which may spark some of the old magic. I know he did some work for St Anger, but he had only just joined.

I would really love them to go back to Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets style. That would be special.

Metallica will never die, their live shows are still amazing after nearly thirty years. I hope the new album has flashes of something close to the black album but anyone waiting for something sounding like Puppets is kidding themselves.

Like they haven't already?

St. Anger sucked.

The days of Master of Puppets are long gone, and they aren't coming back. Time changes, music changes.

Personally i class myself as a big fan of metallica.

Initially i believe they started producing songs such to the style of St Anger, then scrapped there current progress and started again in what can only be described by them selves as old school metallica. Personally i will believe it when i see it.

I loved every album up until St Anger. The style just wasn't metallica, they were trying to hard to keep with the times and it just didnt suit. I don't think they will loose there fan base because like said above, there live shows are just brilliant.

We'll soon find out though. Fingers crossed its gunna be a good one.

Sick of hearing about this band. They are getting quite pathetic now. Just had a quick listen on youtube to the new stuff and still sounds like St , I can't even bring myself to type out that rubbish album title. All this 'return to the old days' talk is crap to spurn up some interest. Sucks dude.

St anger was poo i quite enjoyed Garage Inc but i used to like metallica a lot until my next door neighbour who was annoying, used to either play them full whack on his radio or guitar and i just got annoyed! so i dont listen to them anymore.

If the new album is any good i'll see it as a bonus. I'm a big fan but Metallica for me are all about the live shows now. I've seen them five times and would jump at the chance to see them again.

All in all I don't hold out too much hope for the new stuff, they'll never top Master and it would be unrealistic to expect them to.

I've give up with them now.

Kill Em All : was like any other NWOBHM album but good
Ride The Lightning : was marginally better
Master Of Puppets : was and still is bloody awesome
And Justice for All : was excellent (glad I've got the bass version somebody did)
Metallica : won't be bettered
Load - oh dear
Reload - oh dear dear
Garage : 50/50, some good some bad
S & M : really nothing to do with Metallica, it was all about Kamen
St Anger - oops

Listening to the new stuff and I can't see any hope for them studio wise.

Also whenever I hear Hetfields voice I just think of Beatallica now.

.

I'm not bothered tbh, they made 4 of the best albums in Metal.

Look at Soulfly, Fear Factory, Killswitch Engage, urrrm, trying to think of others bands that went stale over time....

Love Metallica, and are still by far the best band i've ever seen live. St Anger wasn't THAT bad, just no where near what you'd expect from a band such as Metallica.

I honestly think they're going to release a storming album. I'm hoping for a cross between the black album and MOP. It won't be another St Anger for sure, they've became distant from this album in thier live shows.

metallica are good when your 12 but when your a little older, say 14 you realize it's total crap.

Where can i get this version mate, is it an actual CD release (not from metallica of course), or an internet thing?

Would appreciate some more info :)

Its called Justice for Jason and its an internet thing.
If it was live I could link you but its their studio work and Lars wouldn't like it.

Theres also a St Anger one called This Anger Lives

eh

Funny that, I didn't really get into them until I was 18.

I can honestly say I've never met anyone or heard of anyone that was like "oh yea, i was into Metallica and Slayer last summer"

you must be that guy.

Bummer, because I was 40 when I first got into Metallica...

That said, my single favourite album of theirs is Reload, which probably explains a lot...

I agree though: St Anger is poor.
