i no doubt will question it will be a success, yes, but 48 hours in front of a screen playing a game (even though Zelda does indeed rock ) is OTT. theres a real life out there...

Surely completing them in as little time as possible is less sad than playing over a prolonged amount of time?

Someday I want to try playing every FF game in order one after the other. Not in one sitting mind, just over the course of a few months. Unfortunately though, I do actually have better things to do with my time.

Say you take 2 days of your time to complete something that at a normal pace could take weeks, so really you end up with more free time.

I don't see anything sad about either situation.

Depends, say you're spending 5 hours day for a couple of weeks or 48 hours for just 2 days.

Except that they'll blatantly have practised into the ground so that they know the game inside out, like speedrunners do.

I would have critised them for being sad myself, but it's not just the one guy sat on his own, it's clearly just a group of guys sat around having a laugh for a couple of days. Fair play to them, it's a laugh. If you wanted, I'm sure you could probably speedrun those games in a few hours.

Speeddemosarchive shows the following times:

Ocarina of Time: 6:35
Majora's Mask: 6:55
Wind Waker: 6:42
Twilight Princess: 4:47

Those are the no glitch times, except for TP which doesn't have a no glitch run.

So, if you wanted, you could do the 4 games in about a day. It'd be rock hard though. Even less, if you used glitches for the first three as well as TP.

Cool idea, don't see how it makes them sad spending time with a hobby, no more sad than anyone spending hours travelling to a footy match, or taking in the 24 hours of LeMans etc.
