Football Fixtures 12-13th January **Spoilers**

Aye, I saw the game, but I had a mate over so I didn't give it the full concentration it deserved, but what I saw it was a brilliant performance that wasn't down to dodgy defending (for the most part, a dodgy kick from Given), but it was because Man Utd were exceptional and played how they can. How it is to have a fit Rooney, Ronaldo and Tevez trio eh?

Surely credit where credit's due?

As I said a good performance, just certainly not "the greatest ever team performance" Ripper claimed. Newcastle definately did collapse after the first goal though.

Liverpool are good enough, but they need a good manager who makes the right decisions.

Not this season. I don't care who's in charge, no one could win the prem with the lack of attacking quality in our squad currently.

You seem to contradict yourself in that post.
The difference in England is that there are no easy games, even against bottom of the table sides they'll give you a game, this wasn't the case in Spain so you could get away with rotation, where as you can't in England.

It's stuff like benching players playing well and shoving someone random in there, especially when outside of the first team (and even some of the first teamers) at Liverpool the players aren't good enough. If you have a Mourinho, Lippi, Capello, Ferguson or Wenger I can't help but think you'd still be right in there.

I think we collapsed after the second. It was an unfortunate mistake that was severely punished but the lads heads didn't go down after the first goal.

I would still like to think that the game would have turned out slightly differently if Owen's goal has been allowed. I'm not saying we would have won, but I don't think it would have been 6-1 either.

However, you can't go by what if's only by what actually happened.

I meant he hasn't learnt from the mistakes he's made in the Premeirship. The way he got Valencia playing in Spain worked and the way he's got us playing in the CL has worked, he just needs to have a rethink about his strategy in the Premiership.

Maybe it comes down to him treating the PL as an inferior competition to the league of the country he was born in and the CL.

Disagree. I think the difference is Spanish teams are far more attacking so teams generally have more space to play with. English teams tend to park the bus when they're the underdog which means it comes down to a bit of individual magic and we simply don't have enough match winning players in our team.

Not a bad game tonight from us. I thought Carrick had one of his better games for us this season. He was always looking for the ball and always looking to be creative and move it forward. Always funny games these as you either end up hammering someone or the side without a manager ends up playing like their lives depend on it. Thankfully it was the former rather than the latter.

It's a real shame for Newcastle but I just hope their owner goes with his head not his heart when he appoints a new manager.

With 'Arry ruling himself out I think Hughsey is a good choice if they decide to stay with someone based in England. Other than him, I can't see anyone of a decent standard better than Big Sam

Good enough to get to 2 CL finals but not good enough to win the Prem?

Of course not = The Premiership is an accumulation of points over 38 games, which includes 6 against 3 of either Liverpool, Chelsea, Man U or Arsenal.

The Champions League becomes a knockout format after the pointless group stages, where you don't even need to win either of the 2 legs to progress - in addition, a fortuatious draw can see you avoid the big games.

It's not as challenging as it was back in the days when Liverpool ruled the competition in it's European Cup format, and only the top teams from each country qualified, not the also-rans.

Could anyone please find me a high quality picture of Ronaldo celebrating his hatrick?
