the wait is killing me :( ordered it and other parts on the 7th and I know its only been a week but its been a long week for waiting!!!!! I cant wait for it all to come :D :D :D :D :D then I gotta wait on the gpu to be released (changine x2 3870's for x2 3870x2 lol if that makes sense)

What particular feature of the X48 chipset are you looking for?
Maybe you should consider an X38 based board - which are on the shelf right now.

X48 is arguably pointless unless you buy the Q9770 3.2Ghz Penryn with stock 1600FSB. Even then the X38 could still support when O/Ced. Or you're running phase change cooling and want the very best chipset.

x38 is not official support on 1600 memory (1800 o.c'd) but other than that I wanted the features x48 has like wifi n, 4 ddr3 slots the mobo will last me a year at least as I tend to upgrade rarely :p

I have the ASUS P5E3 Deluxe Wifi-AP@n and it has all of the features that you mention - it is based on the X38 chipset.

1600fsb Support
Wifi N
4x DDR3 Slots

The board I have is expensive, however if you were looking for an X48 based board with the same features it would be equally pricey.

This one? doesnt list wifi on it? :S

Be aware that using the chip listed about with 1600 fsb with the X38 can cause issues with warranty. (i.e. tell them you have an X48 though), otherwise they may not replace the chip in the event of it burning out as the motherboard doesn't officially support it.

Oh and... HOW MUCH for an X48 !!!!!!! Eeek. Pretty damn expensive for what IS a cherry picked X38 chipset :(

will do ^.^ but I think the x48 will be released the same time (or near enough to) the ati 3870x2 so will put the money saved towards 2 of them, :p so no real point in cancelling just yet as I will have to wait 30 days to get the refund :p

On the back of the box it actually says 1600 FSB support.
Also if you go to the ASUS website and look at the boards features:

http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?modelmenu=1&model=1872&l1=3&l2=11&l3=572&l4=0

It also says 1600 FSB there as well.
So if there was any issue running on that FSB then straight back to ASUS with the board.
They have made the support official by printing it on the box, in the manual and on their website.

gonna order the one you recommended me now - its going for 187 :)

can I get 2 3870x2's on that board? it says crossfire support but not crossfirex (what ever that means :S)
