Were you Christened? - I wasn't

Yes, I was baptised. Yes, my son has been baptised. Yes, I do believe in God. Should I have let him decide for himself? Well, he isn't old enough to decide for himself so I did it for him, if he changes his mind later then so be it.

'He who believes in me shall enter the Kingdom of Heaven'

Does it not say "'He who believes in me shall enter the Kingdom of Heaven'"

He= male.

why not "those who believe in me shall enter the Kingdom of Heaven" If you want to believe in it, take it word for word. That means only men are in heaven.

and no women are mentioned in any history books. because well, its his story right?

even as a none religious character myself, your making a fool of yourself and trolling.

Wrong, he is the same as man. Until recently it meant both sexes.

As in MANkind.

Your interpretation is different. It says "He" so it means just for the males. God would know that in the future you'll use "he" as both sexes, so he would have known to use "those" - otherwise he'll know it'll confuse people, and that's why he used "he" because only men get into heaven.

Unless of course you're saying god is fallable..

i'll rise to the bait.

Acidhells definition is still valid today although it has taken on another meaning as well. (perfect example. mankind) so "god" (if he exists and those were his words) is still correct in both current and past usages of the word.

seriously. all the things you could complain about and you pick this?

your a troll. seeing as it's not in English. It is humans who decided to translate it as he.

he phonetics
pronoun
2 used to refer to a person whose sex is not known:
The modern traveller can go where he likes.
As soon as the baby is born he'll start to take an interest in the world around him.

It's still valid at the present time.

Being old everybody was christened.
In fact I'd be interested to know if anybody around my age wasn't.
I wish it had been my choice and my girls of 20 & 18 haven't been christened.

Makes no difference at all to most people in this country - a christening is a good way to meet al lthe family and give something to the family who couldn't be best man / maid of honour :)

I don't believe in god or higher intelligience - unfortunately I think all we have is what we have right now - sorry if your life sucks but that's it. I happily go to christenings and weddings in church though, I'm even a godfather (ooh, hello spie :p ) which may be hypocritical but I find more in the family aspect of it all than anything else.

I was christenened, though I've never been a fan of religion, and if I ever had children I wouldn't raise them with any religious preference. If they wish to make an informed choice to follow a faith as an adult then fine, but I'd never force them into anything.

I was christened but I am not a christian.

I think I would get my children christened, (and as daft as this may come across) - more for tradition/excuse for a family event celebrating the baby rather than religious reasons.

Hmmm it may well be cheaper to throw a "Happy Baby!" party though... better costumes also ;)
