Hi Guys,

For those of you with this monitor or have used one would you recommend it as a decent 24" monitor to last a wee while?

And your reasons for Yes or No please :D

Peace :)

I bought one last week and I love it! The picture is great, Windows and films look really good on it - haven't noticed any sign of the infamous "inverse ghosting" issue at all. (I don't claim it's not there - just that lots of people really won't notice it unless they look for it)

Haven't tried any games yet but will give them a go in a bit and see if I'm still happy.

Hi PinkPig,

Would you mind testing something for me? If you run dead pixel buddy on the black screen setting do you get any backlight bleeding? (best trying in a darkened room)

Thanks,

D.M :)

Yes, there's some on three corners. It's fairly minor and only noticeable in a completely darkened room. I don't notice it remotely in gaming or watching films (even letterboxed, though I vaguely suppose I might if I watched in complete darkness). It doesn't bother me in the slightest. I would take a photo but you know what backlight bleed looks like.

Hi, could you - if possable, post a pic of the size of the screen. I have a 17" dell TFT and unsure how much bigger the 24" will be, i know, its 7" but in screen size and width, is it much bigger, or just a nice amount?

Thinking of buying one, but £440 is a lot of money and never seen one in scale to something else yet.

if it helps the dimension are:

Across
Total = 22.2"
LCD Screen = 20.6"

Up
Total = 14.5"
LCD Screen = 12.9"

colinuk, you'll be literally blown away with the difference.

I got my 2407wfp for £325 and I'd have happily paid a good £100 more for it when it arrived.

Have a look at this.

colinuk I can tell you from experience and as Slogan said you'll literally be blown away, I recently moved from a Dell 17" TFT to a HP 22" Widescreen and even that is an amazing difference, however I think I'm gonna change the 22" HP for the Dell 24" and whole heartedly recommend the widescreen :)

Also another post in this forum hints at a new 24" Dell due soon so might be worth holding on for a little bit to see if its any good?

Peace :)

I have one and its amazing, got it running next to a 17 inch dell, i took a picture with my crap web cam, i think you can make out the shapes :/
Its huge at first but you soon find use for all that space.

lol...wow, that really is bad, should really charge the camera....

Hmm, maybe a price drop below £400 would convince me, will give it a week or two and see if my nerve holds out lol..

be nice to have it, even just for eve so i could see the ship instead of windows everywhere!

does look very nice though.

I am weak :) I had intended to hold out but I have just ordered one for £390 delivered with 4 year Dell warranty and a dead/stuck pixel guarantee.
Should be here tomorrow, can't wait to set it up :)

Dell 2407WFP-HC ?? ....

Short answer: NO.

Long Answer: Deffinately Not... atleast not unless you're extremely lucky and manage to get a screen that doesn't suffer from black ghosting issues.

i bought a Dell 2407WFP-HC not so long ago, it's a lovely screen oh it really is.. but when i first heard about the black ghosting issues i thought to myself "oh it can't be that bad." - how wrong i was... it was worse! being a hardcore gamer i seriously can't deal with that kind of ghosting, i had to pack it up the next day and send it back for a refund :(

i've heard good things about the non-HC version though.

Thanks everyone so far and to Baddass for the link.

It seems that the ghosting issue can be a real problem, but am I right in thinking that this doesnt affect everyone?

My spidey senses are suggesting to me that I should wait to see what the 2408WFP-HC will bring?

If I am going for the Dell 24" then I only have today left with my current HP w2207h (14 day return policy) ;) before I have to subject myself to an old 15" CRT in the interim!

But with so many people, on this forum too, saying its a good screen, the ghosting cant be that bad can it?
