Motorway cops - cops out of order?

Whooo whoooo hold up, lets not all jump on the band wagon. I have nothing against the police. I am just explaining it how i see it, this is a forum after all.

CaSh_MoNeY

How and why have you seen this completely different from everybody else?

:confused:

I haven't? I agree with most of the facts, the lad was immature, he shouldn't have been on the road with wrong plates etc.. I just believe the copper could have handled it better. WTF

Even if you dont like the police I honestly dont see the point in being anything other than polite and respectful to them.

I've only ever dealt with the police on two occasions but on both I was polite and respectful and they were to me in return. I got let off with a ticking off after going around a roundabout a little quickly.

Fully agree - I was once a little swine with them.

Jus turned 18, driving a nice(!) brand new sporty focus..

Drove to milton keynes to watch the football and tried to park in a car park - on the way I'd honked the horn a few times to get the attention of some people we know...

As I pulled into the car park, the police car (that had been following me) followed me in and when I parked he got out and came over...

He told us that we couldnt park here as it was for customers to DFS or whatever it was only.. to which I replied "I'm buyin a sofa..."

We went into the shop and came out about 10 minutes later.. The bobby was looking around my car and on his radio...

He then asked me if i knew why he had stopped me.

I said " probably because theres 5 scruffy lads wearing football shirts in a nice shiny car "

He informed that it was for illegal use of the horn....

He then said that he could prescribe me 6 points and a £180 fine..

To which I replied, "under my impression, I was aware that the Road Traffic Act blah blah blah rolled off a load of dates dictates a maximum prescribed penalty of 2 points.."

He looked shocked and just told me to be on my way...

If I was him, i'd have taught me a lesson.

Needless to say, after 5 years of driving, I now know how to behave...

And, what relevance does this have?. Where you dragged from the vehicle on those occasions?

We can all sit here and say, ooooo that little kid shouldn't have done/said that but when you are put in that position all of us act differently

I hope CaSh_MoNeY gets pulled over and acts like that kid. I think he'll find he'll get treated the same.

I just believe the copper could have handled it better. WTF

Bearing in mind the driver was reported for not paying for fuel, the plates came up as fake, coppers thought it was stolen, so now they go into stolen car mode which they've got to, he refuses to get out and pushes the copper -

how would you have handled it?

Be nice to the police. I was 18 and went through a red light with a police car behind me (not paying attention to the road and more worried about the car following me). Somehow I managed to get off with just a verbal warning.

Your driving licence should come before your ego.

I wonder if the flake plates caused the not paying for fuel to happen. He explained that he had spoken to the staff at the petrol station and all was wll. I wonder if the fake plates cause the system to flag something up after he left?

What I don't get and correct me if I'm wrong :
You drive next to a petrol pump, you fill up, you go and pay, either with cash or a card, you drive away.
What part of this gets someone driving away without paying?
I've played it back a few times and I don't understand why the charges were dropped.
Perhaps there is some legality that if the plates are fake then the petrol didn't really go into that car :confused: and the police advised the petrol station to drop it.

I assume his 14 day notice was backed by some sort of producer? If it was he shouldnt have been fined and he should have told the cops to **** off if they tried to fine him.

But we all know traffic cops, the bill, crimewatch etc is all staged.

You're an idiot.

I thought it funny that the dodgiest geezers on there with 30k of stolen wire got away with it, probably because they couldnt prove where it came from

The 18 year old tusseling with the traffic cop a few feet from the slow lane was stupid but its easy to get wound up I guess.

I had a cop open up my door and try and pull me out just because I lent over to grab my shopping from the passenger foot well. He thought I was nicking the stereo, they do presume a lot on how old you look.
I didnt try and fight him though and he was calm after I showed him the car keys

The main points to be taken into regarding the drivers VDF is the very 1st line below:

Issue of the VDF does not authorise continued use of the vehicle in a defective state during the 14 day period for receiving notification of rectification.

Therefore the officer may of said he MUST get new plates within 14 days but the driver should have read the rear of the form which would have explained the above.

So the officer whom stopped the driver and issued a fixed was correct.

Plus the driver was an ass and would not be told and thought he knew it all.

He'll grow up oneday.

Part 2 of form, ‘Important Notice to Drivers’ should be drawn to the driver’s attention when issuing, in addition it should be pointed out that:
  • Issue of the VDF does not authorise continued use of the vehicle in a defective state during the 14 day period for receiving notification of rectification;
  • Acceptance of the VDF does not exempt a driver from proceedings if stopped again by an officer of Kent Police or any other Force;
  • Any charge made by the garage to certify the rectification is a matter between the driver and the garage and forms no part of the police aspect of the scheme and, by entering into the scheme they are NOT entering into any form of contract with Kent Police;
  • There is no requirement for the rectification work to be carried out by a garage but an authorised vehicle tester at an approved MOT garage is the only person who can validate the certificate on the VDF that the rectification has been completed. Officers must not recommend garages for the checking, rectification or certification of any defects when issuing a VDF;
  • If the officer is satisfied that the vehicle will be leaving England or Wales within the next 48 hours, the 14 day period for notification of the rectification can be extended by the officer to 21 days.

The lad sounded like a tool tbh.

I missed the episode but generally get the picture.

I'm all for having a go at a jobsworth copper by all means - they ruin the image of the force for the majority of officers imo - , but, to do it knowing there is something wrong with your car / plate that he can subsequently do you for is simply asking for it.

Be careful what you ask for & all that! :D

tbh i kind of agree with the OP

but then also agree with what everybody else has said

He's done nothing wrong, the car is his, he owns it, and all the hassle has been caused due to somebody else's mistake in giving him the wrong plate

but then, he was being an utter tool. If you're driving round on false plates, its no wonder the police get aggitated about a scruffy young lad driving a Civic Type R on false plates with an alledged incident of theft of petrol listed against the plate

No offence CaSh_MoNeY, but you come across as someone who doesn't like the Police at all, I could very well be wrong, as it's hard to gauge these things through text, but to me that's how it seems.

I hate the police (with few exceptions) with a passion.

But I sure as hell don't act like that around them... it's just asking for the book to be thrown at you. Be calm, sort it out, then have a good ranting match later on with your mates.

Can't see problem with the extraction, as he did explain why it was done that way... without an explanation, it would **** me off mightily though.

The lad had an attitude, and copped it because of that.

Much as I hate them, the police are still human.
