I purchased mine way back long before prices crept up, but even at the time the price gap between both versions was silly. So based my purchase partly on the above stats and mainly on price at the time. Can anyone who knows whats there talking about, please enlighten me as to why and how 620 version is producing an extra 100 peak, with no diff in rails except for one, and that been the 5v rail.

Curious more than anything and might learn something, look forward to peoples comments. :)

There is a difference in wattage and voltage... So it can give the same voltage with higher wattage (power), as:

P=I x V
power (in watts) = current (in amps) x voltage (in volts)

that's the way I see it anyway.

Hi,

Looking at the +12v rails each 12v rail can theoretically supply 18A or 216W making a total of 648W just on the +12v rail.

Neither PSU is rated to supply this much therefore one PSU can suppy 480W accross the three rails with a maximum of 216W to an single rail.

The higher rated PSU can supply 600W with a maximum of 216W to any of the three rails

Essentially you have a strong single rail PSU with either of them, JonnyGuru explains it nicely here. There doesn't appear to be any limitation on any of the rails so it seems unlikely to be multi-rail which would suggest to me that you simply have a PSU with a stronger rail for the 620w version and perhaps the labelling is rather more conservative on the 620w than on the 520w.

It certainly wouldn't be the first time that a manufacturer has 'undersold' their products capabilities, I've got an X-Pro PSU that was originally quoted as giving ~16A on the 12v rail but was later revised (but without any internal changes that I could tell) to be ~20A.

Heh. its got a side window, on my desk antec 900, you can see about 1.5" of it :p :D

mines got a side window, and neon lit :D... but its tucked away in my desk on the 'floor' part of it with a wooden panel that blocks the veiw lol, lil disopointing but its also got 3 fans 'front side and back' + air duct so not a complete waste of money lol, and the front fan is 140mm with a neon backlight so this is cool :D
