Pay for 20mb Broadband,

Look what I get

Yes Yes I know it's "up to" but surely this is taking the ****!

Does running the net through a router impinge on speed - excuse this amateurish question but I've only just got a router and haven't fully read up on it yet! :o

Granted this has only been done over 3 days, going to give it a week and then complain!

Anyone else having issues.

Well speedtest sites aren't the best way to determine speed, best way is to download something from a speedy source. nVidia and Microsoft are speedy sources.

I downloaded IE 7 from MS just now and got on 20MB (wireless connection with 2 lan users online too) :

Hi there, why is that? I don't really understand the logic of testing a net connection on a fast website/speedy source?

While I feel exactly the same as you with the bouts of changes to terms and conditions, normally in VM's favour, there's no point in moaning about it any more.

Virgin Media read the Internet, they have a complaints department, and more importantly they have a business plan. Which despite our best efforts of posting complaints and protests, they're not going to deviate from sadly.

Really want to punch them in the ovaries? Ditch them, join Be and send their complaints department a picture of you sitting next to a speed test on a screen with a big grin and a thumbs up because sadly that's the only way you're going to get any satisfaction.

From a Virgin Media customer in the same boat, waiting for the 12 month contract to expire in May so he can join his recently converted exchange's connection to Be :)

Well where is the logic in download a file from a slow or busy source and then complaining your download speed is slow? :p

Think about it!

It's like driving a Lambo at in heavy traffic and complaining it's not very fast.

kk fair enough!

picked a couple of random files to dl 565kb/sec surely thats somewhat still off the pace!??

andr3w1984 yes occaisonally d/l torrents of game demos why's that?

Just asking, too much downloading can result in a cap in bandwidth. Not sure if virgin do it though but might be worth asking.

For all those complaining...

Download this.

Then run it on this.

You will get 10+Mbps every time. Unless there is actually a problem with Virgin Media and your connection, which from 'speed' tests alone, you cannot ascertain.

woot :)
163 KB/s on a 20 meg line

lucky lucky me

anyone know how much adsl will cost me a month
