Fastest commercial internet lines?

Was bored so did a speedtest at uni and got this:

Now to me that is quick

Whats the fastest you can really have at the moment?

My uni has a 4Gb/s SuperJANET4 connection, so theoretically I could turn up with my PC, plug in with my fibre card and have 1Gbps internet. In reality, the best I can get is 100Mb/sec which still delivers a tasty 9MB/s download speed.

A small bit faster than mine then lol - think ours is 100Mb in theory

I'm with cablecom at uni (through uni owned house I didn't choose it) Speaking to the technician that came round for a house of about 24 people we have a 512kb connection. Sucks to be me.

I have to deal with that at home, i feel your pain. Though its only shared between 4 not 24! :eek:
