How much Holiday : 2008

38 days :- !

I get 27 which includes 3 days for long service.

I like to take three weeks off in August and a week at Christmas. I don't like taking the odd day off here and there.

29 days plus bank hols plus every friday afternoon. 4.5 day week makes the holiday stretch a bit further too. :D

Bank holiday weeks are great, only uses 3.5 days holiday to get 9.5 consecutive days off.

we are allowed to buy holiday days but only 2 per year. it can only happen cos some people have too much leave and are allowed to sell it back to the company for a days pay and the normal people who actually take their time off thats owed to thm need more and have to buy it! :). 2 days is the maximum for buying or selling tho!

That sounds like you get about the minimum?
You do realise, it's illegal to roll over if you haven't literally taken the minimum time off work.

For example

Matey gets 24 days
He takes 14 days
He CANNOT roll over 10 days

Chappy gets 30 days
He takes 24 days
he CAN roll over 6 days

How can it be illegal for me to choose not to take all my holidays in an entitlement period?

How can it be illegal for my employer to allow me to have more days (by allowing rollover days) than the minimum requirement?

26 + BH.

I've never heard of people buying more holiday before. How does that work? How much do you have to pay?

Our company allows us to buy up to 5 days a year, it then comes out of you're pay each month at whatever my daily rate/12 x 5 is. We can also sell back holiday at the end of the year if you have not taken it or swap it to the next year (as long as you've taken the minimal amount required by law) So in theory, as I get a pay rise in October if I buy the 5 days holiday thats worked out at one rate, if I then sell it at the end of the year I can make more money due to my daily rate being higher!

..I've never had any to sell back yet.

My girlfriend gets 48days plus bank holiday plus she does flexi time so can in theory get an extra 2 days off per month.

Bitch.

I get 20days + Bank holidays.

(Ooo a spell checker built in?)

I've got normal 25 + Bank Hol's + 24 rolled over.

Nomrally tou have to get consent form management to roll over holidays and max allowed is 5, but as they asked me to cancel almost all mine last year as i was needed on projects they decided to let me have all of them as it's not my fault.

trouble is they don't want me booking of more than 10 workign days at a time.

I get 25 days annual leave, 2 days bank holiday 8/9 days over Christmas/New year and up to 1 1/2 days flexi a month

So in total I get 36 days holiday up to a potential 52

It's not illegal for your employer to allow you to have more days
It's not illegal for your employer to give you anything they want

What i'm saying is,

You say that you have 3 weeks from the current year, that'll roll over into next year to give you 7 weeks next year

Maths suggest you get 4 weeks a year then
That was the minimum last year that you had to take, by law.

So if you're rolling over 3 weeks, can i presume you haven't taken 4 weeks?

I'll have close to 30days paid & not bought holiday! How good is that? Being paid whilst on holiday. Even though I've been working for many many years it still feels great being on holiday and being paid all the same!

New york and cyprus are definites - I'll see about other trips in due course. Wouldn't mind going back to the Caribbean or heading over to the Orient. We'll see!

Lucky git thought, 38 days holiday eh? Nice!
