“Our guys in the east are doing a terrific job. They’ve got the counter-insurgency thing down pat. But I think our allies over there, this is not something they have any experience with.”

“I’m worried we deploy military advisers who are not properly trained and have some military forces that don’t know how to do counter-insurgency operations."

Before you guys slate me, i know its the sun. Shh

Seriously if the Americans think there the best, why are they constantly attacking allied soldiers?

Why is the British army classed as the best trained in the world?

interesting, i thought the British troops would have been far superior in counter insurgency, and terrorist operations after all that American funded training in northern Ireland

After 38 years in NI, the British Army probably has more experience with urban combat and counter-insurgency than any other fighting force on the planet (except the IDF).

By contrast, the American war machine has the finesse of a half-brick, the competence of a 5 year-old, and the professionalism of a novelty act on "Ladies' Night" at the Lincolnshire Women's Association.

Yes... the American ones.

He's just an ignorant Yank. The civilised world can afford to ignore him.

Sounds like it's been blown out of proportion
“Most of the European forces are not trained in counter-insurgency.”
Would imply to me that he's talking about the rest of Europe apart from us without naming names, seeing as when it comes to Hearts and Minds we wrote the book.

However if he's implying us then this guy is deluded.
