Can anyone tell me when all my hd-dvds will stop working? I need to know so that I know at which point I'm going to feel ripped off for paying £100 to get one foot into the HD market.

Sell the lot to be honest, before they get any further devalued.

Surely that's irrelevent, though, when it comes to amount of money made?

Anywho, this will be the year of the PS3, which will probably overtake the 360 in terms of consoles sold towards the end of the year.

Surely the original post was units rather than money?

Edit - ok its about both but still mentions numbers of units sold (-:

I really eagerly anticipate the day when/if Microsoft slumps into third place in sales behind the Wii and PS3. I would love to see the spin they put into that.

But they already are in last place week on week for world wide sales but only ever seem to quote US sales as they are doing OK over there./

Let me interpret Microsoft's sale spin for you:

WooHoo, look at us, we are making the biggest buck out of the console race!

They're rather more interested in your pocket money than your custom experience!

I love the Sony fangirls excuses in threads like these. The 360 is still dominating the PS3 :)

Quite, it makes me laugh. SDF damage control written all over some of the comments.

The 360 is winning and I cant see the PS3 overtaking. The games just aren't there. Blu Ray is nice, but it didn't stop me ebaying my console last month. The 360 has so many killer games just now.

"But it's had a head start n'all that like....PS3 will pwn this year"

No, it wont. The 360 has a solid library of games, and the PS3 has shown itself to be no more capable in any area (appart from Blu Gay).
Unless a massive amount of AAA games hit the market, along with a worthwhile price cut, I can see the the PS3 becoming PS3rd

Someone mentioned the Wii not being competition to the 360 or PS3? I quite agree with that. For the additional 100 quid or so, the 360 and PS3 offer substantially more for your money.

Only place I see this happaning is Japan.
I cant see bluray doing much for ps3 in long run tbh, i buy consoles for games not for movies and sure its nice to have more space etc but 360 has coped very well i shouldnt need to say more

Believe it or not PS3 so far is on track to outsell PS2 in lifetime sales, whilst 360 sales have decreased in its second year despite many of its "big name" games having been released in that period.

LOL after all the losses they have took then its a funny comment to make, off course Nintendo are making the most money from this console race, an OC gamecube yeah they care much more

The PS3 most probably will overtake the 360 in terms of global sales late 2008 / early 2009, but Microsoft have still done pretty well with the XBox's 2nd incarnation imo.

Yes, they are probably making the most money but then they don't shout about it, aren't they?

It's Microsoft who shout about money this time rather than the usual sale numbers. But then, they're trying to find something 'positive' in their recent sales!

Where did MS say anything about the money they made? I see them or the article author (not sure who) mention some games outselling the PS3 game 3-1 for example, but can't see anything official from MS about how much money? Only mention of money is given at the top I assume by the article author and not MS at all....

The 360 is only doing well in the US, looking at European sale figures the PS3 has outsold the 360 by 14,381 units this week, around 30% more. PS3 Drakes Fortune and Assassins Creed both outsold 360 COD4 & Assassins Creed.

Good job for MS that the US is the biggest and UK in Europe.
