Ok Keegan has roughly 30m (according to some reports) to spend

who does he buy NOW? (if he can get anyone)

and who does he buy close/pre-season?

Ive heard they might be going for Jermaine Defoe? True? hope not.

Need a good strong, experienced centre back (preferably english)

Shaun-wright phillips? (or do we have enuff attacking players :D)

Centre-midfield? zogbia keep here and we got Emre, Geremi and Butt but we need better quality here though.

Geremi and Butt must be knocking on now, Emre is too much of a livewire to be relied on. Isn't Zog really a winger? I'd get a solid midfielder, captain material. Someone that plays box-to-box and can get goals. Someone like Scott Parker.

Keeper situation is fine.

Defence needs work. Taylor is a decent player, as are Beye and Faye. Not sure about Cacapa but they need a big, strong centre half. One with experience but no slowcoach.

Midfield needs work. They need a leader in there.

Up front isn't that bad really with Viduka, martins and Owen in the middle, Milner and Duff on the wings, obviously ignoring the injuries situation.

In fact up front is probably the strongest situation but that won't stop Keegan.

An experienced, strong CB. Sol Campbell for example. Richard Dunne is apparantly having contract issues, sign him!

If we're going for defoe what's happening to owen?

his contract is up 2009 x his chronic injury situation = possibly offski

I'd get a solid midfielder, captain material. Someone that plays box-to-box and can get goals. Someone like Scott Parker.

Kevin Nolan? Same first name as Big Kev :D

Zog's favoured position is central midfield, but since he's quicker then most and we were better stocked in the centre than on the left he always got played at left-wing or left back.

On the few occasions he's played in the middle he's been very effective; his vision and districution is canny but it needs more experience in that position ti improve.

Richard Dunne would be a brilliant signing! he and Taylor would make a very solid central defensive partnership

left back with Jose Enrique looks to be good, and he likes getting forward which is a plus
could do with a right back, Stephen Carr is past his best
midfield with Milner and Duff on the wings brings plenty of good distribution, N'Zog as a lone central midfielder
Emre is a good player but not reliable and seems to have a short fuse, Butt and Geremi aren't good enough
if Smith was played between midfield and the front two I think he'd be ok
don't think we need any strikers unless one or two leave

Given

Chimbonda Taylor Dunne Enrique

Wright-Phillips Nolan Emre N'Zogbia

Owen Viduka

Unrealistic to bring in all 4 of those in Jan, but think they need to be building something like that.

Expect he'll bring in another striker or an attacking midfielder with flair in January though.

Why is everyone discounting Beye? He's looked prety good to me, it's Enrique at left back who looks like he's afraid of the ball.

Personally I think that we need a left back and a more creative midfielder. I'd love to go for Deco again, but I doubt he'd come.
